After a newsworthy first night<\/a>, WrestleMania 42 concludes with Night 2 on Sunday at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. The six-match card features four championship contests \u2014 the same number as Night 1<\/a> \u2014 and is headlined by CM Punk’s World Heavyweight Championship defense against men’s Royal Rumble winner Roman Reigns.<\/p>\n

Punk and Reigns were both in WrestleMania 41’s Night 1 main event alongside Seth Rollins in 2025, and tonight’s match represents a culmination of a feud that has been simmering for more than a year now. It will be Punk’s second WrestleMania main event \u2014 his first as a Night 2 closer \u2014 and Reigns’ 11th overall. It will also be the first time the World Heavyweight Championship has been defended in a WrestleMania Night 2 main event since the event shifted to its two-night format in 2020.<\/p>\n

Elsewhere on the card, WWE Women’s Champion Jade Cargill defends her belt against Rhea Ripley, who earned a spot in Sunday’s event by winning the women’s Elimination Chamber match in February. Ripley has been a standout performer at WrestleMania in the past and will look to add to her legacy, while Cargill is searching for her breakthrough as champion on WWE’s biggest stage.<\/p>\n

Night 2 will also feature the WrestleMania debuts for two of WWE’s brightest young stars, Oba Femi and Trick Williams. Femi is taking on Brock Lesnar in the opening match of the night \u2014 and one that has been arguably the most highly anticipated on the card. Williams, meanwhile, will get a chance at main-roster gold as he takes on Sami Zayn for the United States Championship.<\/p>\n

The final title match of the night will air in the first hour and should be equal parts exciting and violent, as Penta defends his Intercontinental Championship against five other men in a ladder match.<\/p>\n

Lastly, Finn Balor will revive his “Demon” character against Dominik Mysterio after the former’s recent falling out with the Judgment Day faction.<\/p>\n

Reigns looked to line Punk up for a spear, but Punk quickly hit Reigns with two running knees, clotheslines and a swinging neckbreaker. Reigns, on his heels, escaped the ring only to be met by a suicide dive from Punk. Punk kept the pressure up by bouncing Reigns’ head off the announce table and steel steps.<\/p>\n

With Reigns laid out on the announce table, Punk returned to the ring and looked ready to attempt a big elbow from the ring post to table. Reigns rushed out of danger and the two men battled on the ring apron.<\/p>\n

Reigns came out on top, getting Punk hung up in a Tree of Woe. The challenger unloaded on Punk, capping it off with a trio of Superman Punches. Reigns then took the steel steps and hit Punk in the face with them, busting him open. Punk finally fell off the ring apron but endured heavy punishment.<\/p>\n

Reigns took his time taunting as Punk was in the crowd, a period that allowed Punk to recover and hit a leaping tackle on the challenger. Punk then repeated that mistake as he played to the crowd and Reigns tossed him off the announce table and onto the floor.<\/p>\n

Back in the ring, Reigns won a back-and-forth sequence and went for a pin, which Punk kicked out of. Reigns got Punk hung up in between the ropes and then trapped in a corner. Reigns dished out heavy clotheslines to Punk as the crowd counted along. Reigns went for another pin after a leaping clothesline in the middle of the ring.<\/p>\n

Reigns was first to attempt a finisher, lining up a Superman Punch that Punk evaded. Punk utilized the miss to launch into an offensive flurry including a crossbody off the top rope. Punk followed up this sequence with his patented running high knee and bulldog to set up the GTS. Punk was able to get Reigns onto his shoulders but Reigns utilized elbow strikes to escape, send Punk into the ring post and land a sudden Superman Punch for a near-fall.<\/p>\n

Reigns and Punk took in the atmosphere, letting the moment breathe by standing in their corners for a few seconds before slowly walking to the center of the ring and engaging in a staredown.<\/p>\n

After a minute, the two engaged in a collar-and-elbow, which was broken up and Punk taunted Reigns for being too oiled up. Punk followed up with a big shoulder tackle and side headlock. The crowd was divided, trading “let’s go Roman” and “CM Punk” chants.<\/p>\n

Reigns’ first impact move came as he hit a Samoan drop on Punk. Punk tried to fight back with a chop to Reigns and for the first time in the match, Reigns’ power advantage shined through as he floored Punk with one punch. Reigns then sent Punk over the top rope out to the floor. Reigns then stalked Punk, bouncing his head off the ring post. He attempted to do the same to Punk on the announce table but Punk blocked it. Reigns rebounded quickly and whipped Punk into the barricade before breaking the referee’s count.<\/p>\n

Like last year, where CM Punk came out for his main-event match to “This Fire Burns,” Punk got another throwback intro with “Miseria Cantare” playing during his intro montage \u2014 paying homage to his Ring of Honor days. As the music\/montage stopped, Punk took at the top of the ramp in silence and with no graphics playing. As he screamed “It’s Clobbering Time,” “Cult of Personality” hit and the crowd erupted.<\/p>\n

Roman Reigns was first to enter, getting an opera singer, Samoan Dynasty video montage and being played out to the ramp by musicians on golden drums and a gold piano. It felt very much like a Final Fantasy final boss sequence.<\/p>\n

When Reigns emerged and his actual music hit, he was all business and the tron turned red to match his Ula Fala.<\/p>\n

Just like Night 1, Cena came out between the last two matches and announced the attendance total. Sunday night had a reported attendance of 55,255, bringing the two-night total to 106,072.<\/p>\n

As Cena attempted to say a heartfelt thank you to the fans, The Miz and Kit Wilson interrupted. The Miz demanded his WrestleMania moment and Cena shook his hand and insulted Wilson. Cena obliged in giving them a WrestleMania moment and Danhausen’s music hit.<\/p>\n

Danhausen drove the Danhausenmobile down the ramp followed by small Danhausens.<\/p>\n

Once Danhausen took the microphone he cut a promo and his mini Danhausens attacked Wilson. Danhausen sent Miz to the ground with a low blow and delivered a Five-Knuckle Shuffle to the Miz.<\/p>\n

Ripley used the distraction to get back into the ring and set up a Riptide on Cargill. Cargill escaped and went for Jaded, but Ripley again countered directly into a Riptide for the win.<\/p>\n

Ripley attempted to power out of the crossface but was met with a few elbow strikes from Cargill. Quick thinking allowed Ripley to deliver a kick to the side of Cargill’s head and the two went blow for blow afterwards. Ripley utilized another kick and an electric chair drop to score a near-fall and set up a Riptide attempt.<\/p>\n

Cargill continued to shrug off Ripley’s offense and went for her Jaded finisher and a powerbomb, but Ripley was able to evade both.<\/p>\n

As Ripley went for a Razor’s Edge, B-Fab and Michin interfered. The distraction was enough to have Ripley drive her shoulder into the ring post and then take a new move, the Sandstorm, from Cargill for a near-fall. Stunned and frustrated, Cargill tossed Ripley out of the ring and ordered Michin and B-Fab to attack.
