{"id":401050,"date":"2026-04-20T02:56:10","date_gmt":"2026-04-20T02:56:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/401050\/"},"modified":"2026-04-20T02:56:10","modified_gmt":"2026-04-20T02:56:10","slug":"samsung-galaxy-s27-will-most-likely-ship-with-a-silicon-carbon-battery-with-a-much-higher-lifespan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/401050\/","title":{"rendered":"Samsung Galaxy S27 Will &#8220;Most Likely&#8221; Ship With A Silicon-Carbon Battery With A Much Higher Lifespan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Samsung refused to jump onto the <a href=\"https:\/\/wccftech.com\/a-silicon-carbon-battery-could-have-rescued-the-iphone-air\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">silicon-carbon<\/a> (Si\/C) battery bandwagon until the technology was truly ready for mass adoption, taking a morally upright stand that cost it dearly, especially in China, where local players have been happy to run with battery capacities as high as 10,000mAh.<\/p>\n<p>Now, however, one tipster believes Samsung has cracked the silicon-carbon battery longevity code, and that the Galaxy S27 will &#8220;most likely&#8221; ship with such a battery, replete with a much higher capacity than the 5,000mAh level that seems to have become a norm for the South Korean tech giant lately.<\/p>\n<p>Samsung is going all in on silicon-carbon battery tech now that it has almost cracked the underlying longevity code<\/p>\n<p>For the benefit of those who might not be aware,\u00a0silicon-carbon (Si\/C) batteries\u00a0differ slightly from conventional lithium-ion ones in their choice of the anode, which is made up of a fracture-resistant, nanostructured silicon-carbon composite material\u00a0instead of the typical graphite.<\/p>\n<p>So, what&#8217;s the catch? Well, a silicon-based anode can hold up to 10x as many lithium ions, essentially increasing the battery&#8217;s capacity by orders of magnitude, while allowing for a very slim overall form factor for the battery. On the flip side, these batteries do entail a lower lifespan, especially when compared with their lithium-ion counterparts.<\/p>\n<p>We reported towards the end of 2025 that Samsung SDI was testing a <a href=\"https:\/\/wccftech.com\/samsung-sdi-reportedly-abandons-its-20000mah-silicon-carbon-battery-to-focus-on-6000-8000mah-ones-amid-a-host-of-problems\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">20,000mAh dual-cell silicon-carbon battery<\/a>, where the primary cell had a 12,000mAh capacity and a thickness of 6.3mm, while the secondary cell retained a capacity of 8,000mAh and a thickness of 4mm. That cell, however, failed at <a href=\"https:\/\/wccftech.com\/samsungs-mammoth-20000mah-silicon-carbon-si-c-smartphone-battery-fails-at-960-cycles\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">960 charge cycles<\/a> vs. Samsung&#8217;s internal target of 1,500 cycles, prompting the South Korean tech giant to start exploring lower capacity cells.<\/p>\n<p>Samsung has also been testing an 18,000mAh cell and a 12,000mAh one, which pairs a 6,800mAh cell (thickness of 4.7mm) with a 5,200mAh cell (3.2mm thickness).<\/p>\n<p>This brings us to the core of today&#8217;s topic. The tipster Schr\u00f6dinger has disclosed in a <a href=\"https:\/\/schrodingerintel.blogspot.com\/2026\/04\/samsungs-silent-battery-pivot-why-s26.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">new blog post<\/a> that &#8220;Samsung&#8217;s engineers are actively reworking the separator layers, stacking architecture, and battery management firmware&#8221; to extend the longevity of its silicon-carbon batteries to 1,500 charge cycles. The tipster goes on to note:<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t<a id=\"bizdev_mobile_3_link\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"noskim d-md-none\" href=\"\" rel=\"sponsored\"><br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" id=\"bizdev_mobile_3_image\" style=\"display:inline-block\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/placeholder-mobile.png\" width=\"300\" height=\"250\"\/><br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t<a id=\"bizdev_mid_desktop_link\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"noskim d-none d-lg-block\" href=\"\" rel=\"sponsored\"><br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" id=\"bizdev_mid_desktop_image\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/placeholder-desktop.png\" width=\"728\" height=\"90\"\/><br \/>\n\t\t\t\t<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Reports from multiple sources point to a Silicon-Carbon smartphone being in active preparation, with the Galaxy S27 Ultra as the most likely first deployment.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Samsung has largely stayed with 5,000mAh batteries in its smartphones for nearly a decade, with the Galaxy A9 Pro, released all the way back in 2016, constituting one of the first such phones from the South Korean tech behemoth to sport this now-generic capacity.
