We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.<\/p>\n<p>Your support makes all the difference.Read more<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/life-style\/daniel-radcliffe-children-acting-b2930904.html\" title=\"Daniel Radcliffe says he wouldn\u2019t want his son \u2018to act or to become famous\u2019\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Daniel Radcliffe<\/a> has weighed in on the ranking of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/arts-entertainment\/tv\/news\/snl-harry-potter-black-snape-kam-patterson-b2952300.html\" title=\"Harry Potter reboot roasted by \u2018Black Snape\u2019 on SNL: \u2018The whole wizarding world is racist\u2019\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Harry Potter<\/a> film adaptations, admitting he was surprised by some of his own preferences.<\/p>\n<p>The British actor, 36, played the lead role in eight film adaptations of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/arts-entertainment\/tv\/news\/harry-potter-tv-hbo-jk-rowling-b2942414.html\" title=\"John Lithgow \u2018considered quitting\u2019 Harry Potter series after \u2018upsetting\u2019 backlash\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">JK Rowling<\/a>\u2019s best-selling book series, between 2001 and 2011.<\/p>\n<p>During an appearance on the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" data-affiliate=\"true\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/redirect.viglink.com?&amp;key=9ed4af92937c872e0ab792f0310bab4eu=https%3A%2F%2Fpodcasts.apple.com%2Fgb%2Fpodcast%2Fhappy-sad-confused%2Fid827905050&amp;cuid=b2961530\">Happy Sad Confused<\/a> podcast, Radcliffe was presented with bracketed choices between pairs of Harry Potter films, which were then whittled down to an overall winner: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows \u2013 Part Two, a film he described as \u201cmy favourite of all of them\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/GettyImages-2270618470.jpeg\"  loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"Daniel Radcliffe pictured in April 2026\" class=\"sc-1mc30lb-0 ggpMaE inline-gallery-btn\"\/>Daniel Radcliffe pictured in April 2026 (Getty Images)<\/p>\n<p>Radcliffe explained that he has \u201cmore time now for me in the early films\u201d, which included the inaugural adaptation Harry Potter and the Philosopher\u2019s Stone (2001), and the followup Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002). <\/p>\n<p>He explained that when he was still 18 years old, he \u201cwould cringe watching the earlier films\u201d. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cNow I think the early films are sweet, and now I cringe watching myself when I was 18 or 19,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n<p>He ranked the sixth film, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, lowest of all, stating: \u201cHalf-Blood Prince is probably the bottom of the bracket for me. That&#8217;s my own stuff. That&#8217;s not the film.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Radcliffe has previously spoken about the 2009 film being the point when his struggles with alcoholism worsened. The actor <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/arts-entertainment\/films\/news\/daniel-radcliffe-harry-potter-drunk-scenes-alcohol-fame-child-star-justin-bieber-a8789751.html\">began abusing alcohol while still a teenager<\/a>, and has now been sober since 2010. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere were a few years there when I was just so enamored with the idea of living some sort of famous person&#8217;s lifestyle that really isn&#8217;t suited to me,\u201d he told GQ in 2011 that his problem began during his time on Half-Blood Prince.<\/p>\n<p>He also voted out the third film, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, in the first bracket, despite that film\u2019s status among many Potter fans and critics as the de facto high point of the franchise.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/newFile-1.jpg\"  loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter\" class=\"sc-1mc30lb-0 ggpMaE inline-gallery-btn\"\/>Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter (Warner Bros)<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know everyone wants me to say Azkaban. I know that&#8217;s how everyone else feels, but I love the stuff I got to do on the fourth movie,\u201d he said, opting instead for Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.<\/p>\n<p>Goblet of Fire ultimately ended up finishing his ranking in second place, behind the final film, with Radcliffe admitting: \u201cI&#8217;m fascinated. I don&#8217;t think I knew that Goblet of Fire would have been my second-favorite film. Although it would have survived if the bracket were different.
