Read more news stories here<\/a>\u00a0<\/p>\nOrganisers have announced the first ever international exhibition of bowed stringed instruments in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The event will take place on 12 September 2026 in Tuzla, the country\u2019s third-largest city.<\/p>\n
In addition to the exhibition, there will be a symposium for professional instrument makers, and a concert by violinist Maida Habibovi\u0107 and violist Wolfgang W\u00f6lfer-Roth. Visitors will have the opportunity to try out the instruments, speak directly with their makers, and gain first-hand insight into different approaches to sound, construction and aesthetic expression.<\/p>\n
Eighteen luthiers will be exhibiting their instruments at the event. From Bosnia and Herzegovina the makers are Mensur Avdi\u0107, Sifet Avdi\u0107, Elvedin Hod\u017ei\u0107, Mirko Vukelji\u0107, Mladen Sofreni\u0107, Zoran Martinovi\u0107, Hrvoje Ivankovi\u0107 and Branko \u0160imi\u0107. From Serbia, the exhibitors are Boris Batalovi\u0107, Dejan Blagojevi\u0107, Dragan Filipovi\u0107, Dmitry Tarakanov and Biljana \u010cali\u0107, while Croatia will be represented by \u017deljko \u0106ati\u0107, Vinko Bo\u0161njak, Darko Stipesevi\u0107, Mirko Sli\u0161kovi\u0107 and Nikola Dervenkar.<\/p>\n

The exhibition has been initiated and conceived by Mensur Avdi\u0107. \u2018I wanted to create a space where, for the first time, instruments made here could be presented within an international context, bringing together makers and musicians in one place,\u2019 he said. \u2018Our aim is not only to showcase high-level craftsmanship but to establish a basis for long-term dialogue, collaboration and development.\u2019<\/p>\n
The German and Polish embassies in Bosnia and Herzegovina have expressed their support for the project, alongside the Sarajevo Philharmonic. The exhibition is also supported by the Centre for Culture of the City of Tuzla.<\/p>\n
