{"id":406586,"date":"2026-04-23T09:47:08","date_gmt":"2026-04-23T09:47:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/406586\/"},"modified":"2026-04-23T09:47:08","modified_gmt":"2026-04-23T09:47:08","slug":"mainland-chinas-ultra-wealthy-numbers-rise-as-hong-kong-tipped-for-faster-growth","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/406586\/","title":{"rendered":"Mainland China\u2019s ultra-wealthy numbers rise as Hong Kong tipped for faster growth"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Mainland China\u2019s population of <a target=\"_self\" class=\"e1yy41x40 ef9u0v01 css-1ankfgb ecgc78b0\" href=\"https:\/\/www.scmp.com\/business\/banking-finance\/article\/3330747\/billionaire-boom-ultra-wealthy-china-hong-kong-regain-momentum-tech-wave-stimulus?module=inline&amp;pgtype=article\" title=\"\" data-qa=\"BaseLink-renderAnchor-StyledAnchor\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">ultra-high-net-worth individuals (UHNWIs)<\/a> \u2013 those with assets exceeding US$30 million \u2013 has grown by 23 per cent over the past five years to 121,677, and is projected to expand a further 18.8 per cent to 144,602 by 2031, according to Knight Frank.Despite that growth, China\u2019s share of global UHNWIs edged down by one percentage point to 17 per cent this year and was expected to fall further to 15 per cent by 2031, as rapid wealth creation in the United States reshaped the global distribution, the London-based consultancy said in the 20th edition of its annual <a target=\"_self\" class=\"e1yy41x40 ef9u0v01 css-1ankfgb ecgc78b0\" href=\"https:\/\/www.scmp.com\/property\/article\/3301202\/hong-kong-still-among-worlds-top-wealth-hubs-according-knight-frank-report?module=inline&amp;pgtype=article\" title=\"\" data-qa=\"BaseLink-renderAnchor-StyledAnchor\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Wealth Report<\/a>, released on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">\u201cChina remains the second major pole of wealth creation, although its relative position is easing,\u201d the report said. \u201cIn practice, almost every country is losing global market share to accommodate the relentless expansion of US wealth.\u201d<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">Hong Kong\u2019s UHNWI population, meanwhile, declined by 3.3 per cent to 6,788 compared with 2021, but is forecast to rebound strongly, rising 25 per cent to 8,485 by 2031 \u2013 the 19th-fastest growth rate globally.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">The city continues to gain traction as a family office hub, supported by efforts to streamline regulation and an influx of mainland professionals under new talent visa schemes.
