Netflix owns a large number of this week\u2019s biggest TV and movie streaming premieres. The service not only has the second season of one of last year\u2019s best new comedies premiering this week, but also its first episodic \u201cStranger Things\u201d spin-off<\/a>, an unorthodox reality series starring Zach Galifianakis and a lean, mean survival thriller starring Charlize Theron and Taron Egerton. Elsewhere, HBO Max has the new series from \u201cBaby Reindeer\u201d<\/a> creator Richard Gadd arriving this week as well.<\/p>\n

Here are the best new movies and shows you can stream this weekend.<\/p>\n

\u201cKevin,\u201d Prime Video\u2019s new adult animated comedy series, comes from co-creators Joe Wengert and Aubrey Plaza (\u201cParks and Recreation\u201d). It follows its eponymous lead (Jason Schwartzman<\/a>), an anthropomorphic cat, as he struggles to adjust to life on his own in New York City after his two human owners separate. He moves into a pet rescue in Queens and soon finds himself amongst a group of similarly outcast, misfit animals.<\/p>\n

In addition to Schwartzman and Plaza, the show\u2019s voice cast includes John Waters, Whoopi Goldberg, Amy Sedaris, Quinta Brunson, Patti LuPone and Charles Melton, among others. All eight episodes of its first season premiered Monday on Prime Video.<\/p>\n

Their investigation, however, leads them to a far-right bomb plot targeting the very heart of London. <\/p>\n

\u201cCriminal Record\u201d Season 2 dropped the first of its eight episodes Wednesday, with its remaining seven scheduled to follow one at a time through June 10. In addition to Windsor, the show\u2019s impressive ensemble cast includes Asa Butterfield, Fra Fee, Alexa Davies and Christopher Eccleston. All six of its episodes premiered Tuesday on Netflix.<\/p>\n

An eager newcomer to the hobby, the Netflix original follows Galifianakis as he learns the ins and outs of gardening alongside his viewers and shares the joy of reconnecting with the Earth in such a physical, tangible manner along the way. \u201cThis Is a Gardening Show,\u201d in other words, has the potential to be this week\u2019s most purely delightful new show. All of its episodes premiered Wednesday.<\/p>\n

The new drama was created, written by and stars Gadd, who plays Ruben, the volatile, on-edge and estranged brother of the mild-mannered Niall (Jamie Bell). <\/p>\n

The sports comedy series\u2019 10-episode sophomore season premieres all at once Thursday on Netflix, with star Kate Hudson back, as well as fellow cast members Justin Theroux, Brenda Song, Max Greenfield, Scott MacArthur, Drew Tarver and \u201cRunning Point\u201d newcomer Ray Romano<\/a>. <\/p>\n

The new season picks back up with Hudson\u2019s Isla Gordon as she attempts to save not only her family\u2019s basketball team from financial ruin but also protect her place at the top of the organization from new undermining attacks by her brother, Theroux\u2019s Cam. The show\u2019s first season was a welcome, unexpected gem last year, and it looks like \u201cRunning Point\u201d Season 2 may offer much of the same fun as its predecessor.<\/p>\n

A canonical spin-off, the series\u2019 episodes are set in between the events of \u201cStranger Things\u201d Seasons 2 and 3. They follow the franchise\u2019s central group of adolescent kids \u2014 Eleven, Mike, Will, Dustin, Lucas and Max \u2014 as they find themselves facing new monsters from the Upside Down and try to discover the truth behind Hawkins\u2019 latest paranormal mystery. \u201cTales From \u201985\u201d was created to evoke the feelings of an \u201980s Saturday morning cartoon, and that may very well be just what \u201cStranger Things\u201d fans are looking for right now.<\/p>\n

Netflix has a contemporary riff on \u201cThe Most Dangerous Game\u201d coming this week in the form of \u201cApex.\u201d Directed by \u201cEverest\u201d filmmaker Baltasar Korm\u00e1kur, the new Netflix original film follows a rock climber (Charlize Theron<\/a>) who finds herself fighting for her life in the middle of the deep wilderness when she becomes the target of a malicious hunter (Taron Egerton). <\/p>\n
