\n\tPark Chan-wook<\/a> has lined up an all-star cast for his next film, the Western thriller \u201cThe Brigands of Rattlecreek\u201d: Oscar winner Matthew McConaughey<\/a>, Oscar nominee Austin Butler<\/a>, Emmy nominee Pedro Pascal and Chinese star Tang Wei.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe vaunted South Korean director (\u201cNo Other Choice,\u201d \u201cOldboy\u201d and \u201cThe Handmaiden\u201d) will direct the film and adapt the original screenplay by S. Craig Zahler (\u201cDragged Across Concrete,\u201d \u201cBone Tomahawk\u201d). <\/p>\n

\n\tThe hot package, a passion project for director Park will hit the market at the Cannes Film Festival, where Park is set to preside over the competition jury<\/a>. Patrick Wachsberger\u2019s 193, a Legendary company, will represent international sales for the film.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThe Brigands of Rattlecreek\u201d is described as \u201can iconic tale of vengeance and retribution set in the American West.\u201d A synopsis of the project explains: \u201cA capstone of the themes Park Chan-wook has plumbed across his entire body of work to date, the film is an emotionally explosive and visually stunning meditation on the consequences of violence, the value of family, the power of memory, and the true cost of life.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tMcConaughey has a history with the project: After the script appeared on the Black List in 2006, Amazon had acquired rights to the material and was eyeing him to star back in 2019.<\/p>\n

\n\tWhile Park\u2019s films are often set in South Korea, he has helmed projects adapted from a wide variety of authors including Donald Westlake (\u201cNo Other Choice\u201d), \u201cThe Handmaiden\u201d (inspired by the Sarah Waters novel \u201cFingersmith\u201d) and Emile Zola (\u201cThirst\u201d). He made his English-language helming debut with 2013\u2019s \u201cStoker.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tPark will also produce for Moho Film, alongside Bradley Fischer (\u201cZodiac\u201d). Back Jisun for Moho Film, Mike Medavoy and Georgia Kacandes are executive producers.<\/p>\n
