One of the central characters of the quirky film is Ninad Kamat, a shockingly accurate voice artist and a meticulous actor to the hoot. One of his dialogues in the dark comedy says ‘In life, make a lot of money, and make a lot of love.’ Most of the madness unfolds in the night, so the twistedness of the idiosyncratic people camouflages with the darkness of the narrative. The way the characters speak or scowl is reminiscent of the recent Happy Patel by Vir Das. It also has shades of Kunal Kemmu’s rollicking Lootcase.

STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD

There are films that follow structure, and then there are films that dismantle it entirely. Candy and the Pizza Ggirl belongs firmly in the latter category – a dark, surreal comedy that unfolds like a fever dream set against the neon chaos of Mumbai. It’s messy, outrageous and often deliberately disorienting but within that madness lies a film that knows exactly what it’s doing.

Directed by Akkhil Kapur, the film builds itself around a single unpredictable night where multiple lives collide through a chain of bizarre, domino-like events. What begins as a carefree, indulgent existence for its central characters quickly spirals into something far more twisted and dangerous, triggered by the arrival of an enigmatic “pizza girl.”

At the center of this chaotic universe is Ninad Kamat, delivering what can only be described as a career-defining performance. Playing Bobby – a flamboyant, self-assured man clinging to an illusion of control—Ninad injects the film with a volatile energy that never settles. His performance constantly shifts between arrogance, vulnerability, humor and breakdown, making him impossible to look away from. In a film that thrives on unpredictability, he becomes its most reliable anchor.

Equally compelling is Shivani Singh as Candy, who emerges as one of the film’s most striking presences. There’s a quiet intensity beneath her character’s surface, a sense of emotional unraveling that mirrors the film’s chaotic structure. She doesn’t just hold her ground amidst the madness, she commands it, marking her as a breakout performer to watch.

STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD

An interesting fact that most people don’t know is that the role of the casting director in Candy and the Pizza Ggirl is played by Poonam Kapur, the real sister of the late superstar Vinod Khanna and she brings remarkable authenticity and grace to the role with her impressive casting choices.

Priya Banerjee steps into perhaps the most intriguing role, the mysterious Pizza Ggirl, bringing a layered, offbeat energy that adds to the film’s surreal quality. Her character feels less like a person and more like a trigger point, someone who disrupts reality itself. It’s a risky, unconventional portrayal, and that’s precisely what makes it work.

Then comes Dara Sandhu, who surprises with a confident and grounded performance in a film that often leans toward the exaggerated. His natural ease provides balance, making his character stand out amid the chaos. Meanwhile, supporting actors like Nimish Shitole and Aniket Sanghavi add texture and unpredictability, ensuring that even smaller moments contribute to the film’s larger rhythm.

STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD

What truly sets Candy and the Pizza Ggirl apart is its tone. It operates in a space where reality bends, identities blur, and control becomes an illusion. The storytelling embraces non-linearity and surrealism, creating a narrative that feels less like a straight line and more like overlapping realities colliding with each other.

The humor is dark, often absurd and sometimes unsettling but that’s intentional. This isn’t comedy designed for comfort; it’s comedy that thrives on discomfort, confusion, and unpredictability. The film constantly keeps you off balance, forcing you to engage rather than passively consume.

At its core, the film explores themes of control, identity, and the fragile nature of modern urban life- wrapped inside a narrative that feels chaotic on the surface but thematically cohesive underneath.

Of course, such an unconventional approach won’t resonate with everyone. The film demands patience and a willingness to embrace its eccentricity. But for viewers open to its rhythm, it offers a cinematic experience that feels refreshingly different.

STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD

Candy and the Pizza Ggirl isn’t just another comedy, it’s an experiment in tone, structure and performance. And while it may polarize audiences, it undeniably leaves an impression.

Rating: 3.5 (out of 5 stars)

Candy and the Pizza Ggirl is now streaming on Prime Video

First Published:
April 26, 2026, 06:00 IST

HomeEntertainment‘Candy And The Pizza Ggirl’ Movie Review: Ninad Kamat & Shivani Singh shine in the most absurd comedy of the yearEnd of Article

Cast: Ninad Kamat, Priya Banerjee, Shivani Singh, Dara Sandhu, Nimish Shitole, Aniket Sanghavi, Rahul Gupta Director: Akkhil Kapur …

[27
194264,194258,194262,146,85,46,397,194263,194259,194260,194265,194261
post-411252","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-movies","tag-aniket-sanghavi","tag-candy-and-the-pizza-ggirl","tag-dara-sandhu","tag-entertainment","tag-il","tag-israel","tag-movies","tag-nimish-shitole","tag-ninad-kamat","tag-priya-banerjee","tag-rahul-gupta","tag-shivani-singh
["GET
