{"id":412054,"date":"2026-04-26T18:05:10","date_gmt":"2026-04-26T18:05:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/412054\/"},"modified":"2026-04-26T18:05:10","modified_gmt":"2026-04-26T18:05:10","slug":"canadians-are-getting-several-government-benefit-payments-this-week-daily-hive","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/412054\/","title":{"rendered":"Canadians are getting several government benefit payments this week | Daily Hive"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Certain Canadians can expect several government benefit deposits this week.<\/p>\n<p>The Canada Pension Plan (CPP) and Old Age Security (OAS) payments will land in eligible Canadians\u2019 bank accounts on Tuesday, April 28.<\/p>\n<p>The CPP is a monthly, taxable government benefit that replaces part of eligible Canadians\u2019 income when they retire and is a payment they receive for the rest of their lives. You must have made at least one valid contribution to the CPP and be at least 60 years old to receive this payment.<\/p>\n<p>Canadians will receive their full pension even if they\u2019re under 70 and still working. If you contribute to the \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canada.ca\/en\/services\/benefits\/publicpensions\/cpp\/cpp-post-retirement.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">CPP post-retirement benefit<\/a>, you can increase your pension.<\/p>\n<p>Eligible Canadians received an <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyhive.com\/canada\/cpp-oas-payment-jan-2026\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">increase<\/a> to\u00a0their CPP and OAS payments in January.<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"benefit\" title=\"\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"2048\" height=\"1365\" decoding=\"async\" data-nimg=\"1\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2265077\" style=\"color:transparent\"   src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Shutterstock_2587871967.jpg\"\/><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-2265077\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Fahng_S\/Shutterstock<\/p>\n<p>The maximum monthly CPP payment you can receive at age 65 has\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canada.ca\/en\/services\/benefits\/publicpensions\/cpp\/amount.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">increased<\/a>\u00a0from $1,433 to $1,507.65 starting January 2026.<\/p>\n<p>New beneficiaries aged 65 can get an average monthly CPP payment of $803.76 as of October 2025. That\u2019s an almost $100 decrease from the average monthly payment of $899.67 in October 2024.<\/p>\n<p>Canadians aged 65 and older can also qualify for the OAS pension regardless of their work history.<\/p>\n<p>Those living in Canada can qualify for this benefit if they\u2019re 65 and older, are citizens or residents when their pension application is approved, and have resided in Canada for at least 10 years since age 18.<\/p>\n<p>However, if you\u2019re living outside Canada, you must meet the same age requirement, be a citizen or resident on the day before you left Canada, and have resided in Canada for 20 years since the age of 18.<\/p>\n<p>Just like the CPP, the OAS payment also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.canada.ca\/en\/services\/benefits\/publicpensions\/old-age-security\/benefit-amount.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">increased<\/a> in January.
