{"id":414053,"date":"2026-04-28T00:23:13","date_gmt":"2026-04-28T00:23:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/414053\/"},"modified":"2026-04-28T00:23:13","modified_gmt":"2026-04-28T00:23:13","slug":"high-school-athlete-stress-and-anxiety-tips-for-mn-families","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/414053\/","title":{"rendered":"High school athlete stress and anxiety tips for MN families"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Whoever thinks professional hockey players are too tough to talk about their feelings should have seen St. Paul RiverCentre on Jan. 4, between games at the World Junior Championship.<\/p>\n<p>Paul Martin, Paul Broten and Jamie Langenbrunner \u2014 three former Minnesota high school stars who went on to NHL careers \u2014 were on a panel at the convention hall, discussing mental health and addiction.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs a hockey player,\u201d Martin said, \u201cthe ability to say you need help, or you\u2019re struggling or going through something is not something people often talk about.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Said Broten: \u201cYou see a lot of professional athletes that once they\u2019re done playing, they try to go back to their normal life. I had to hit my own rock bottom, and probably more than once.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Today\u2019s high school athletes have broader access to mental health resources than those players did.
