A new concierge healthcare clinic has opened in San Luis Obispo \u2014 and its approach is becoming more and more common in an era of primary care shortages.<\/p>\n
NextGen Concierge Medicine will offer personalized, concierge-level care beginning with a soft opening on Monday, April 27, according to a news release from the clinic.<\/p>\n
NextGen\u2019s staff will be led by medical director and general specialist Dr. Ahmad K. Nooristani, and pain specialist Dr. Samer Othman, along with support from physician assistants, nurse practitioners and registered nurses.<\/p>\n
Concierge clinics often operate on a high-cost fixed payment, which guarantees a set number of care visits each year, but NextGen advertises a more competitive price model, according to the release.<\/p>\n
Individual memberships will cost $3,000 annually or $275 monthly, while a dual membership that supports two people will cost $5,000 a year or $385 a month, according to NextGen\u2019s release.<\/p>\n
Like most forms of concierge care, NextGen will offer annual wellness exams, chronic care management, medication management, hospital care coordination and enhanced communication via in-person or telehealth visits, according to the release.<\/p>\n
The clinic will also offer genetic testing through a partnership with tellmeGen laboratories<\/a>, which \u201cempowers physicians to personalize care at the DNA level,\u201d according to the release.<\/p>\n According to the release, genetic testing can help doctors personalize treatment and make safer prescriptions based on an individual\u2019s genetic profile.
