\n\tThe real-life \u201cEmily\u201d that inspired Emily Blunt<\/a>\u2019s character in The Devil Wears Prada<\/a> is coming forward.<\/p>\n

\n\tSpeaking with Vogue\u2018s\u00a0The Run-Through<\/a>,\u00a0celebrity stylist Leslie Fremar<\/a>\u00a0revealed that she\u2019s the inspiration for \u201cEmily,\u201d the assistant to Meryl Streep\u2019s Miranda Priestly in the film and colleague to Anne Hathaway\u2019s Andy Sachs.<\/p>\n

\n\tLauren Weisberger\u00a0released the bestselling novel the first film is adapted from more than two decades ago after serving as a junior assistant for\u00a0Anna Wintour, the inspiration behind Streep\u2019s Miranda Priestly, and fictionalized her time working for Wintour and Vogue. Fremar hired Weisberger and worked with her for eight months.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI definitely told her a million girls would kill for the job,\u201d Fremar revealed, referencing a memorable quote from the film. \u201cThat was definitely my line because I actually really believed that, and I knew that she didn\u2019t necessarily wanna be there.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tDespite being the inspiration for the Emily character in the book, Fremar said she didn\u2019t learn about the release of\u00a0it until after she\u2019d already left her job working for Wintour and\u00a0Vogue.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI got a call from Anna\u2019s office saying that she wanted to see me,\u201d Fremar recalled. \u201cI was petrified. [Wintour] said, \u2018Who\u2019s Lauren Weisberger?\u2019 And I said, \u2018She was your junior assistant.\u2019 And she\u2019s like, \u2018Well, she wrote a book about us, and you\u2019re worse than me.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tFremar also said she wanted to \u201cask more questions\u201d but noted \u201cyou can\u2019t really ask her that many questions.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tThe early copy of the book was \u201cquite mean\u201d at first but eventually \u201csoftened,\u201d according to Fremar. \u201cIt just felt like this exposure. Even though someone obviously advised her to make it fiction, it was really based off of a lot of things that, you know, I lived, she lived.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tWhen looking back at her time working with Weisberger, who she says \u201cdidn\u2019t really socialize with anyone else,\u201d Fremar shared, \u201cI probably was not very nice, and I probably was high-strung because I felt like I was having to do her job as well. So for me, that was really frustrating. I think she was probably just sitting there writing a book and not necessarily taking the job as seriously as I did.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe two \u201cnever talked again\u201d after Weisberger left Vogue, and should they reunite now, Fremar says it would be \u201cvery awkward.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAs for Blunt, Fremar said she did connect with the actress and told her she was the inspiration for the character. \u201cShe was not that interested, to be honest. I thought I was gonna get this, like, huge reaction. Like, no.
