April 30 (Reuters) – Twilio raised its full-year forecast on Thursday and posted stronger-than-expected first-quarter results, signaling \u200csustained demand for its cloud communications tools \u200cas companies invest in customer engagement and AI-driven services.<\/p>\n
The company’s shares \u200bsurged 18% in extended trading.<\/p>\n
Twilio, which provides messaging, voice and email tools used by companies to communicate with customers, has been working to boost profitability after years of \u200cprioritizing growth.<\/p>\n
The company \u2060has also been repositioning itself around AI-powered customer engagement, aiming to embed more automation \u2060and data-driven capabilities into its platform.<\/p>\n
For 2026, Twilio raised its forecast for revenue growth to 14% to 15%, \u200bfrom 11.5% \u200bto 12.5% previously. It \u200balso lifted its expectations \u200cfor operating income and free cash flow to between $1.08 billion and $1.10 billion.<\/p>\n
The San Francisco-based company reported revenue of $1.41 billion for the first quarter, up 20% from a year earlier and above Wall Street estimates of about $1.34 \u200cbillion, according to data compiled \u200bby LSEG.<\/p>\n
Adjusted earnings per share \u200bof $1.50 also beat expectations \u200bof $1.27.<\/p>\n
Twilio projected second-quarter revenue of $1.42 billion \u200cto $1.43 billion, ahead of analysts’ \u200bestimates, pointing to \u200bcontinued momentum in its core communications business.<\/p>\n
The company reported first-quarter net income of $90 million, or 57 \u200bcents per share, \u200ccompared with $20 million, or 12 cents per share, \u200ba year earlier.<\/p>\n
