Manu Hissnauer is a divemaster who spends much of his time underwater and is used to encountering all kinds of marine life up close. What he isn\u2019t used to, however, is receiving help from the wildlife, but that\u2019s exactly what happened in this amusing moment.<\/p>\n
While completing a task that required no assistance, Hissnauer found himself joined by a curious grouper that seemed determined to supervise his work. The large fish followed him closely, watching every move as the diver continued his task. It was an unexpected interaction, and certainly one he won\u2019t forget anytime soon!<\/p>\n

Divers often enjoy interacting<\/a> with groupers, which is one reason these gentle giants sometimes approach people underwater.<\/p>\n Dr. Frias-Torres strongly discourages divers from feeding groupers, but these fish have also learned that humans can sometimes mean an easy meal. If a diver stirs up prey like crabs or lobsters, a grouper may take advantage of the opportunity for some fast food. Honestly, who doesn’t like a free meal?<\/p>\n When encountering a grouper, she recommends approaching slowly and from the side rather than head-on. If they feel threatened or overwhelmed, they will quickly swim away.
