But as the story progressed, Haki introduced another power system that almost every pirate crew would need to master in to progress further into the planet’s most dangerous oceans. Now, after more than #1180 manga chapters, One Piece has finally introduced the secret King of the World, who has reigned for over 800 years with a power that\u2019s unlike almost everything else in the series.<\/p>\n
After the Straw Hats and Elbaph’s giants quelled the World Government’s cruel assault, the enemy forces escalated the conflict far beyond what fans expected. For the first time in centuries, the ruler of the World Government left Pangea Castle to go to Elbaph. As soon as he arrived, he forced Zoro to break a promise to Luffy<\/a> with a devastating loss with a flash of his power. Chapter #1181 provided even more details about Imu\u2019s ability, which seems to be almost the direct opposite of what fans know of Haki so far.<\/p>\n Imu’s Omen Power Is The Ying To Haki’s Yang<\/p>\n Thankfully, Loki, who still seems like the most likely candidate for the next Straw Hat pirate<\/a>, has been able to put up a better fight against Imu than anyone else on the island so far. The longer battle has given Nerona Imu more time to show off his abilities and even provide clues to readers on how their powers work. In his battle against Loki, Imu states, “Omen is my military might! A power that lurks in all things!” as he uses a strange, shape-shifting black cloud to severely wound the enormous giant.<\/p>\n Loki was recently fully introduced to the story, but it didn’t take long for it to be clear that he’s easily one of the strongest characters in all of One Piece<\/a>. Still, even he struggles against Imu’s might and highly versatile abilities. While Haki is the utilization of one’s willpower, Imu’s Omen powers seem to manipulate the opposite negative energy. <\/p>\n The “Military Might” that Imu speaks of teases a power that supposedly lives in all things, according to the dark ruler. If Omen represents the negative and violent urges that people’s willpower is consistently suppressing, Imu’s powers allow the worst tendencies (or most evil potentials) to take control when they are possessed by Domi Reversi, which explains nearly all of the abilities that have been used against the protagonists on Elbaph.<\/p>\n Haki Has Proven To Be The Key To Fighting Devils and Their Fruits<\/p>\n When cheerful giants like Dorry and Brogy were possessed by Imu’s powers, they did not fully lose their personalities, but they did transform into their most violent selves. However, when Imu attempted to possess Luffy and Loki, his powers failed to have any sort of effect. The mystery as to why they didn’t work in that particular instance and the best way to counter Imu’s Omen powers will likely be explored in future chapters, but the series has already proved what will likely bring Imu and any evil Devil Fruit user down.<\/p>\n <\/a><\/p>\n Related<\/p>\n \t\t One Piece chapter #1181 had another fantastic showing from Imu, and it made it clear that he’s as perfect a villain for Luffy that fans could want.<\/p>\n The power of negativity is wielded by the fan-favorite Perona, but Imu’s Omen seems to affect far more than its target’s levels of depression; it lets loose the most violent and destructive urges in one’s heart. Because Omen seems to be the manifestation of destructive impulses or demonic energy, it’s incredibly weak to Haki, which may correlate directly to why One Piece’s Devil Fruit powers are also so vulnerable<\/a> to the spiritual power.<\/p>\n Even Luffy is hesitant to confront Imu with chapter #1181, showing the Straw Hat captain determined to refill his energy if he wishes to beat the source of the heaviest Haki he\u2019s ever felt. From Luffy\u2019s description, Omen might still technically be Haki, but a darker version that no one else in the series has been shown able to control.
