Former Call the Midwife star Pam Ferris is returning to BBC One following emotional scenes during series 15 of the period drama<\/p>\n

Call The Midwife fans devastated as Sister Evangelina dies suddenly after a stroke<\/p>\n

The BBC has treated fans to a new look at Amandaland season two, and a Call the Midwife star has joined the cast.<\/p>\n

The Motherland spin-off follows Amanda Hughes, played by Lucy Punch, as a single mum of two teenagers who is forced to relocate to a less affluent part of London following her divorce.<\/a><\/p>\n

The second season of the BBC<\/a> show follows Amanda as she continues to navigate life in South Harlesden, otherwise known as SoHa, while juggling mum life, her online Senuous brand and her \u201cco-lab\u201d working at Kitchen\u2019s Bathrooms and Kitchens.<\/p>\n

As the busy mum resigns herself to staying in the area, she is thrilled when a hipster coffee shop opens, which, to her mind, represents a step towards gentrification.<\/a><\/p>\n

Lucy Punch is joined by Pam Ferris in the new season of Amandaland <\/p>\n

Pam Ferris has joined the cast to portray Amanda’s frail neighbour, Elspeth, who lives in a very desirable house and whom Amanda is quick to befriend.<\/p>\n

The 77-year-old actress is best known for her roles as Matilda’s Miss Trunchbull, Nativity’s Mrs Bevan and The Darling Buds of May’s Ma Larkin.<\/p>\n

Call the Midwife fans will know Pam as Sister Evangelina in the BBC period drama, who was an Anglican nun of the Order of Saint Raymond Nonnatus and a resident of Nonnatus House.<\/p>\n

Between 2012 and 2016, the nun had a robust sense of humour and was incredibly good at her job, delivering babies in Poplar and offering a stern word or two.<\/p>\n

However, Sister Evangelina suffered a stroke and passed away in her sleep before being found by Fred Buckle (Cliff Parisi) in the finale episode of series five.<\/p>\n

Sister Evangelina recently staged a surprise return in the series 15 finale of Call the Midwife, which aired earlier this year, appearing as a ghostly figure to help Sister Monica Joan (Judy Parfitt) pass away following a battle with chronic kidney disease.<\/p>\n

Alongside Lucy Punch and Pam Ferris, viewers can expect the return of Joanna Lumley (Absolutely Fabulous) as Amanda’s mum, Felicity, and Philippa Dunne (Derry Girls) as Anne.<\/p>\n

Samuel Anderson (Shetland, Gavin & Stacey) will also reprise his role as Mal, alongside Rochenda Sandall (Line of Duty) as Fi.<\/p>\n

They’re joined by new cast addition Harriet Webb (Big Boys), who can be seen in the trailer.<\/p>\n
