\n\tFor her first Met Gala<\/a>, Tate McRae worked with designer Ludovic de Saint Sernin<\/a> on a golden gown that was inspired by the gilded statues adorning La R\u00e9ale, the ceremonial boat of Louis XIV, preserved at the Mus\u00e9e National de la Marine near where Sernin grew up.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cSince the theme is \u2018Fashion Is Art,\u2019 we really wanted to blur the line between a garment and a sculpture. This dress is crafted to make me look like a living gold statue,\u201d McRae says. \u201cThe corset is so structured and powerful, then you have these soft feathers and the most delicate French gold lace layered in\u2026.It\u2019s dramatic, it\u2019s glowing, it\u2019s literally everything I could\u2019ve dreamed of and more. I\u2019ve never worn anything that feels this special, it is like a piece of history that\u2019s been brought into 2026. I\u2019m so beyond grateful to be here, wearing a piece of art like this for my very first Met.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe gown is constructed around a maille bloqu\u00e9e corset with boning, and overlaid in delicate French gold lace, woven on traditional Leavers looms in Calais-Caudry.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tThe \u201chand-applied gold feathers on the bra\u201d are McRae\u2019s favorite detail of the piece. \u201cThey\u2019re so intricate. When you look closely, they almost look like armor, but they still feel light,\u201d she says. \u201cIt creates this crazy texture that plays with the light every time I move.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cLudovic is such an amazing designer and he gets women\u2019s body,\u201d she adds. \u201cThe fit is always perfect and blends chic and sexy. Wearing his work makes me feel powerful and confident. He\u2019s a genius.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAs for how she feels around her first Met Gala<\/a>? \u201cIt\u2019s such a pinch-me moment,\u201d McRae says. \u201cI\u2019m trying to soak in every second.\u201d<\/p>\n
