Hasbany made the hat as part of her graduating collection at London\u2019s Central Saint Martins; the piece of millinery won her first prize for the L\u2019Or\u00e9al Young Talent Award there. The floppy topper is made from hand-crocheted mohair sourced from eBay and was, in part, inspired by a folk legend about a UFO crashing into Texas, Hasbany\u2019s home state. \u201cI wanted to imagine how the residents might morph into aliens after helping to hide the crash,\u201d she tells Vogue. \u201cAs an allegory for the way anyone who is different is cast out or buried in the South.\u201d<\/p>\n
