TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (KUTV) \u2014 A new pediatric behavioral health hospital in Taylorsville is highlighting the growing demand for youth mental health care in Utah.<\/p>\n
The Intermountain Primary Children\u2019s Hospital Behavioral Health Center opened eight months ago to help children and teens facing mental health crises. <\/p>\n
ARC Salt Lake spoke with leaders at the facility about the urgent need for expanded services and the warning signs families should watch for.<\/p>\n

Hospital leaders said the center has already seen strong demand from families across the state, particularly for children struggling with anxiety, depression and emotional crises. <\/p>\n
Some students receiving treatment have even transitioned part of their education to the hospital because severe anxiety has made attending school difficult.<\/p>\n
Officials said Utah continues to face a shortage of pediatric mental health resources, which helped drive the need for the new facility.<\/p>\n
They also encouraged parents to watch for sudden behavioral changes, withdrawal from friends or activities, difficulty functioning at school, or signs of self-harm, saying early intervention can make a major difference for children in crisis.<\/p>\n
