\n\tAs the sequel to society\u2019s digital rise and fall is currently in the works with Aaron Sorkin<\/a> and Sony<\/a>, don\u2019t expect Andrew Garfield<\/a> to reprise his role in The Social Network Part II<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\tFollowing his performance as Facebook<\/a> co-founder Eduardo Saverin in the 2010 docudrama, which was directed by David Fincher<\/a>, the 2x Oscar-nominated actor shut down a return for the upcoming sequel.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cNo, no,\u201d Garfield told IndieWire<\/a>. \u201cEduardo is in Singapore having a good time.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tIndeed, Saverin renounced his U.S. citizenship and moved to Singapore<\/a> in 2009, which he insisted \u201cwas based solely on my interest in working and living\u201d in the Asian country, amid speculation he made the move to avoid a massive tax bill.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI am obligated to and will pay hundreds of millions of dollars in taxes to the United States government. I have paid and will continue to pay any taxes due on everything I earned while a U.S. citizen.<\/p>\n

\n\tSet in 2003, The Social Network dramatized the events surrounding Mark Zuckerberg\u2019s (Jesse Eisenberg) founding of Facebook and the subsequent lawsuits it sparker, including one from his former Harvard friend Eduardo Saverin (Garfield).<\/p>\n

\n\tFollowing the original movie\u2019s three Oscar wins and five nominations, Sorkin revealed last year that he has an idea for the sequel<\/a>. \u201cLook, yeah, I\u2019ll be writing about this. I blame Facebook for January 6<\/a>,\u201d he said at WME\u2019s White House Correspondents Dinner pre-party.<\/p>\n

\n\tThis week, Sony announced that the sequel<\/a> will be titled The Social Reckoning<\/a>, premiering Oct. 9, 2026 in theaters. Jeremy Strong will take over the role of Zuckerberg, with Mikey Madison as whistleblower Frances Haugen and Jeremy Allen White as Wall Street Journal reporter Jeff Horowitz, who broke a series of articles known as \u2018The Facebook Files\u2019.
