Ronnie Wood<\/a> has revealed that he has a tribute to Beach Boys<\/a>\u2019 Brian Wilson<\/a> on the new Rolling Stones<\/a> album, \u2018Foreign Tongues\u2019.<\/p>\n

The rock icons dropped details of the upcoming album<\/a> earlier this week \u2013 officially confirming the title and release date after weeks of dropping hints<\/a>, and confirming that it will feature guest appearances from Paul McCartney<\/a>, Robert Smith<\/a> and more.<\/p>\n

They went on to host an album launch event in New York City<\/a>, where they revealed that they wrote it while feeling determined to push their musicality after more than 60 years together.<\/p>\n

Now, guitarist Ronnie Wood has shared more insight into the album, and revealed that it contains a tribute to late Beach Boys frontman Brian Wilson, who died of respiratory arrest in June last year.<\/a><\/p>\n

Speaking on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Wood revealed that he learned of Wilson\u2019s passing while in the studio working on \u2018Foreign Tongues\u2019, and wanted to play something from the heart that expressed how he felt after hearing the news.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was so moved that day, and disappointed and sad, I had so much feeling because Brian Wilson died. I\u2019ll never forget,\u201d he said, going on to reveal that he wrote a nine-minute guitar solo which helped him channel his emotions.<\/p>\n

That solo was later cut down to around five-minutes, and now features in a song called \u2018Back In Your Life\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat week Sly Stone died too<\/a>, I thought, \u2018Oh, no. It\u2019s so sad\u2019. It came out through my guitar, the feeling, in just one take. I didn\u2019t do that, the guitar played itself,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

So far, the only songs to be released from the new album are the lead single \u2018Rough and Twisted\u2019<\/a> \u2013 which the band dropped under the alias \u2018The Cockroaches<\/a>\u2019 before confirming the album \u2013 and the charismatic \u2018In The Stars<\/a>\u2019, which was released digitally on Tuesday (May 5) and will get a physical release on May 15.<\/p>\n

The band have yet to confirm the full tracklist, although based on the Fallon interview, there is the track \u2018Back In Your Life\u2019 and apparently a cover of Amy Winehouse\u2019s<\/a> \u2018You Know I\u2019m No Good\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u2018Foreign Tongues\u2019 is set for release on July 10 via Polydor\/Universal Music \u2013 visit here to pre-order<\/a> \u2013 and will feature 14 songs in total.<\/p>\n

Alongside Mick Jagger<\/a>, Keith Richards<\/a> and Wood, the record also has one of the final recordings from late drummer Charlie Watts<\/a> before his passing in 2021<\/a>, as well as other guest appearances from Steve Winwood<\/a>, and Chad Smith of the Red Hot Chili Peppers<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The whole record was completed in less than one month at Metropolis Studios in West London, with production from Andrew Watt<\/a> \u2013 who also worked with them on 2024\u2019s \u2018Hackney Diamonds<\/a>\u2019.<\/p>\n

Mick Jagger and co. are unlikely to announce a full tour anytime soon, as late last year they confirmed that they scrapped plans for a UK and European stadium tour in 2026<\/a> because Keith Richards<\/a> was unable to \u201ccommit\u201d to it.<\/p>\n

The group embarked on their North American \u2018Hackney Diamonds\u2019 tour in 2024<\/a>, with the trek landing at Number Six on the list of the highest-grossing music world tours of that year<\/a>.<\/p>\n
