TV simply takes too long to make nowadays. Ballooning \u201cblockbuster\u201d per-episode costs coupled with fewer episodes and a lack of sustained studio contracts means audiences have to wait multiple years between seasons. Even if a show shoots entirely on a state-of-the-art virtual soundstage we don\u2019t get consistent yearly programming. Add to that list Disney+\u2019s Ahsoka<\/a> which aired its eight-episode first season all the way back in 2023. That really is a long time ago. According to Deadline<\/a>, season two has a premiere window and it is not soon.<\/p>\n

The outlet stated series star Rosario Dawson gave the timeline for season two<\/a> at the Disney upfront presentation. That premiere will happen sometime in \u201cearly 2027.\u201d On the one hand, it\u2019s less than a year away. On the other, that\u2019ll make it just shy of four years since the finale of season one. Dawson said \u201cThis season, the battles are bigger and the stakes are higher,\u201d which is apparently a court-mandated way to promote new seasons of things. Oh, the stakes are higher this time? Weird, I thought they\u2019d be way lower. Huh!<\/p>\n

At any rate, the season will continue season one\u2019s thrust of attempting to foil Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen) and his plot to resurrect the Empire. Game of Thrones star Rory McCann will replace<\/a> the late Ray Stevenson as evil Jedi Baylan Skoll. Hayden Christensen will also return<\/a> as Anakin Skywalker in ghost and flashback form. And lest you think the Dave Filoni series won\u2019t have even more beloved characters, Admiral Ackbar will appear. \u201cHe\u2019s going head-to-head with Thrawn,\u201d promised\u00a0Filoni.<\/p>\n

While we have a long time to wait for Ahsoka, the Star Wars universe continues apace. After just wrapping up Maul \u2013 Shadow Lord<\/a>, the franchise is about to debut its TV-to-film adventure The Mandalorian and Grogu. Next year, in addition to Ahsoka, we\u2019ll get Star Wars: Starfighter<\/a> in theaters starring Ryan Gosling.<\/p>\n
