To call the upcoming series finale of The Boys<\/a> a TV event would be to downplay just how highly-anticipated it is. The episode, titled “Blood and Bone<\/a>“, will bring a close to the most violent superhero TV <\/a>show in history’s unhinged five-season story. So it has to be more reckless, more violent, and yes, more unhinged, in order to pull it off. Considering that the season has already killed off multiple main characters in the run-up to that finale, that shouldn’t be a problem for it. <\/p>\n

That said, the final season has already left fans divided, both due to some of the creative choices that have taken place and the somewhat slower-than-expected pacing. Now, a potential leak for The Boys season 5 finale has surfaced online via Reddit<\/a>. While we’re obviously not going to post spoilers here in case those leaks turn out to be genuine (it’s also worth pointing out that the post has since been taken down by Reddit), the fans’ responses can still be viewed. Once again, it’s painting a very mixed picture. <\/p>\n

Fans react to apparent The Boys season 5 episode 8 leaks<\/p>\n

One fan argued that it sounds like The Boys’ season 5 finale opens strong based on the description but summed up their overall thoughts with a “f*ck no.” Another fan was sceptical about the whole thing, arguing that The Boys simply wouldn’t be able to fit in all of what is described into the 1 hour 5 minutes runtime<\/a> that has been confirmed. And another was taken aback by what they read, describing the whole thing as sounding like “fan fic”. One reader branded the rumored leak as “corny”, another added that it feels like “trolling”, and one simply just asked “That’s it?”.<\/p>\n

While there is obviously no way of verifying if the apparent leaks are indeed real until the finale itself airs \/ streams on Prime Video next week, these responses from fans do highlight how season 5 has been more of a divisive run for a show that has received a generally strong reception from those same fans throughout its first four seasons. <\/p>\n

There’s a growing trend in Hollywood that final seasons struggle to conclude their respective shows in a satisfactory manner. It was Game of Thrones that cast a spotlight on this when it delivered arguably the most reviled final season in TV history – a blemish on an otherwise pretty perfect run – while other shows such as The Flash<\/a>, How I Met Your Mother, and True Blood underwhelmed and simply failed to deliver what they promised audiences. <\/p>\n

Stranger Things season 5<\/a> is a final season that has been in the public discourse recently. Although it never desecrated the show’s legacy or harmed previous seasons retroactively, fans felt that the larger-than-life stakes were absent until the finale itself and that the final episode played it too safe. In fact, The Boys season 5 has been actively trying to avoid those criticisms<\/a> by showing viewers that it isn’t afraid to kill off main characters. But the slower pacing has seemingly harmed it regardless of that, leaving fans divided heading into the finale. <\/p>\n

If these leaks do turn out to be true, it sounds like the fan response towards The Boys’ final season won’t be changing anytime soon. Here’s hoping that they ultimately turn out to be fake and that the episode surprises everyone, delivering a satisfying conclusion to one of the biggest TV shows of the past decade.
