One of Prime Video’s best-performing series, The Boys, is officially reaching an end after seven years as fans prepare for the final episode<\/a> on May 20. The Boys was adapted from the comic series of the same name and has become a major success due to its wild similarities to modern world news as well as its dark and satirical take on the superhero genre.<\/p>\n

\u21bb PLAY AGAIN<\/p>\n

In an interview with Collider<\/a>, showrunner Eric Kripke revealed a major character has already had his final scene in the series during episode 7, titled “The Frenchman, the Female, and the Man Called Mother\u2019s Milk,” where Homelander (played by Antony Starr) places Soldier Boy (played by Jensen Ackles) back in the cryo chamber. According to Kripke, it was “Jensen’s last scene in the series.” When asked about the moment and intentionally working in an Impala reference, Kripke stated:<\/p>\n

“Yes, of course. Of course, we did. Knowing that that was going to be Jensen\u2019s last scene in the series, we wanted to put in one last reference. Honestly, Slem wrote and we shot that it was a Ford. It was, \u201cWorking on the old Ford.\u201d The danger of having (director) Phil Sgriccia and I, sitting next to each other in editing, which we would do, was that we were watching it and Phil was like, \u201cShould it be ‘Impala’?\u201d And I was like, \u201cYeah, it probably should be ‘Impala.’\u201d And so, Jensen looped in ‘Impala’ just to do one last nod.”<\/p>\n

Episode 7, being Soldier Boy’s last appearance, doesn’t bode well for his character, as Homelander is the only one who knows his location and seems to be the only one willing to free him. He will be returning, but only in the prequel Vought Rising, showing how supes came to be, as well as an origin story of Vought and Soldier Boy’s early days and his relationship with the evil Stormfront.<\/p>\n

The ending of season 5, episode 7, also saw a major character leave The Boys, and that is Frenchie (played by Tomer Capone)<\/a>, who sacrificed himself to protect Kimiko (played by Karen Fukuhara), who is one of the only chances they have to put a stop to Homelander, who now has V1 coursing through his veins. The heartbreaking death was a tragic end to the penultimate episode in the final season.<\/p>\n

However, not everyone was a fan of episode 7 of The Boys season 5, as following its release, it is now the lowest-rated episode<\/a> in the show’s history with a 7\/10 on IMDb. The second lowest is season 4, episode 2, titled “Life Among the Septics,” which is rated 7.1\/10. With over 15,000 reviews, fans were not happy with the story, making the audience worried about how the series would deliver on its final episode or possibly become one of the worst-rated series finales.<\/p>\n
