Never play Rose and Thorn with J.Lo, because you will lose. Didn’t know you could win or lose that game? Well, you can. Jennifer Lopez told CBS Sunday Morning that divorcing Ben Affleck was “the best thing” to ever happen to her. “I realized that the joy is in living, and really embracing life and everything that it brings to you. For the lessons that it brings, and then for all the triumphs that it brings. The hard times are the lessons, and you have to understand that,” she said. “And once you do, everything just becomes a little bit lighter and you can really fly. And I I feel like if that hadn’t happened, I wouldn’t understand that.”

Lopez said filming Kiss of the Spider Woman was a balm in that turbulent time: “Every moment on set and every moment I was doing this role, I was so happy. And then back home, it was not great.” But she also is still very thankful to Affleck for his company, Artists Equity, for financing the movie. “The movie wouldn’t have been made if it wasn’t for him and Artist Equity,” she said. “I told him this was the role I was born to play and I wanted to do it and he was like, ‘Okay,’ and he helped make it happen.” Lopez said she would always give Affleck credit for that. Maybe if she thanks him for it during her Oscars acceptance speech, they can call it squarsies.

Related

Never play Rose and Thorn with J.Lo, because you will lose.
