Marvel remakes a Spider-Verse<\/a> movie to set up a major upcoming crossover event. Sony’s Spider-Verse franchise has cemented itself as an absolute titan of comic book cinema with its revolutionary blending of traditional hand-drawn comic aesthetics with cutting-edge 3D digital animation that has influenced other successful movies like KPop Demon Hunters. The momentum exploded exponentially with 2023’s Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, which broke box office records by pulling in over $690 million worldwide. <\/p>\n

Fans will have to wait five full years to see the resolution of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse’s cliffhanger<\/a>. Trapped in a bleak alternate reality and hunted across the multiverse, Miles will have to make a difficult choice to endanger his home universe or the rest of the multiverse in Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse. Coincidentally or not, the Spider-Verse trilogy’s climax will happen the same year that Avengers: Secret Wars’ title promises to completely overhaul the entire Marvel Cinematic Multiverse.<\/p>\n

Ultimate Impact: Reborn shows the possible start<\/a> of the whole event, with Miles Morales taking some of the Boxes to Iron Man, only to be intercepted by the Spot, who nearly knocks out Miles and steals the power-granting objects. In only a couple of pages, a fight between Miles Morales and the Spot puts the fate of at least two universes on the line, mirroring the plot of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse in comic book form.<\/p>\n

During the wait between Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, comic-book Miles Morales became the only major character so far, besides the Maker, to act as a bridge between Earth-6160’s Ultimate Universe, Earth-616, and his original timeline, Earth-1610’s original Ultimate Universe. Now, before Sony’s animated Miles returns to defeat the Spot in Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse in 2027, losing the Origin Boxes in Ultimate Impact: Reborn may make Miles the protagonist of yet another multiversal event where entire timelines are at stake.<\/p>\n

Introduced in 1985 as an obscure, comical villain who frequently tripped over his own portals in battles against the original Spider-Man, Jonathan Ohnn was rarely depicted as a serious threat.
