A new Interview with the Vampire series is releasing before The Vampire Lestat<\/a>.<\/p>\n

After being called Interview with the Vampire for the first two seasons, season 3 has been retitled as The Vampire Lestat, with the series now adapting Anne Rice’s novel of the same name. The vampire Lestat de Lioncourt will continue to be played by Sam Reid as he was in the show’s two previous seasons, along with Jacob Anderson returning to play the vampire Louis de Pointe du Lac.<\/p>\n

AMC has now announced that a companion series, The Vampire Lestat: After Dark, will begin with a special preview episode on May 24, ahead of the main show’s debut on June 7. The half-hour episodes are hosted by Lizzie Bassett and serve as an aftershow for The Vampire Lestat, featuring interviews from Reid, Anderson, and other cast members and producers, including Assad Zaman, Eric Bogosian, Delainey Hayles, executive producer Mark Johnson, and executive producer and showrunner Rolin Jones.<\/p>\n

Episodes will be released weekly on AMC+ and be available the next day on Amazon Music, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, YouTube, and other select platforms. Certain episodes will also air on AMC, such as the special preview episode on May 31, the season premiere on June 7, and the season finale on July 19.<\/p>\n

The special preview episode features Reid, Anderson, Zaman, Hayles, Bogosian, Jones, and Jones hinting at what fans can expect from the season, along with candid, behind-the-scenes stories. AMC is the same network that helped popularize aftershows with Talking Dead airing after The Walking Dead. With AMC’s Immortal Universe<\/a> being one of their biggest franchises alongside The Walking Dead, it is fitting that The Vampire Lestat will be getting an aftershow as well.<\/p>\n

The Vampire Lestat, formerly Interview with the Vampire, is only one of several series set within Anne Rice’s Immortal Universe on AMC. One of these is Mayfair Witches, in which Dr. Rowan Fielding (Alexandra Daddario) learns that she is part of a powerful witch dynasty. The other one is Talamasca: The Secret Order, in which a psychic named Guy Anatole (Nicholas Denton) is recruited into a secret society known as the Talamasca.<\/p>\n

Per the new showrunner Thomas Schnauz, Mayfair Witches season 3<\/a> wrapped filming in February, although it does not have a release date yet. Talamasca: The Secret Order was canceled after only one season, but AMC did share that certain characters and the titular organization will return to the television franchise in the future.<\/p>\n

For now, the franchise’s immediate future is The Vampire Lestat, which returns approximately two years after Interview with the Vampire season 2 ended<\/a>. With a 98% critics’ score for season 1, 100% for season 2, and an overall score of 99% on Rotten Tomatoes, season 3 looks to continue the show’s near-perfect acclaim, even as the narrative heads into a somewhat different direction.<\/p>\n

The Vampire Lestat: After Dark debuts on May 24 on AMC+, followed by The Vampire Lestat on AMC and AMC+ on June 7. <\/p>\n
