From its writing capabilities to its photo generation features, it\u2019s no secret what a powerful tool artificial intelligence<\/a> has become \u2014 both to the everyday person and employers. <\/p>\n

Some AI ads<\/a> point out that these tools can help \u201cimprove your writing, get work done faster, and minimize mistakes,\u201d and others claim “it\u2019s easier than ever to bring your ideas to life,<\/a>” with a photo generation prompt. <\/p>\n

Regardless of why people might use AI<\/a>, the fact is, it\u2019s not going anywhere and that\u2019s a reality many employers are embracing \u2014 including America\u2019s largest retailer, Walmart<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Earlier this month, the company announced it is investing $1 billion in skills and technology training for its employees with the help of OpenAI<\/a>, the company behind ChatGPT<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cBeginning next year, U.S. frontline and office-based associates will have access to cutting-edge AI training through a new collaboration with OpenAI,\u201d Walmart Chief People Officer Donna Morris said in a statement<\/a>. <\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019re launching a new OpenAI Certifications program, and we\u2019re working with them to create a customized experience for you,\u201d Morris said. <\/p>\n

The certification is offered through Walmart Academy<\/a>, the company\u2019s training portal. <\/p>\n

\u201cThis training is designed to help you at work and in your personal life in an increasingly digital world,\u201d the company said in its statement. \u201c… With these new learning opportunities, you can develop the skills to succeed and grow.\u201d<\/p>\n

In an interview with The Associated Press, Walmart CEO Doug McMillon said when it comes to AI, \u201cno one knows how this is going to play out,\u201d and \u201cbasically every job gets changed.\u201d<\/p>\n

The goal in a changing job market is for people \u201cto adopt new tools, leverage them and make things better than they would\u2019ve otherwise been,\u201d McMillon said. <\/p>\n

Walmart employs people in various positions \u2014from store associates to supply chain associates. <\/p>\n

McMillon said Walmart employs fewer than 75,000 home office positions and believes those positions will be affected sooner than those who are working in stores. <\/p>\n

He told the AP that his hope for the company\u2019s future is that it can employ more people \u201cbecause we have more ideas of how to grow,\u201d opposed to AI resulting in fewer jobs at Walmart. <\/p>\n
