Coronation Street spoilers<\/a> follow.<\/p>\n

Coronation Street<\/a> is bringing back a past star in a touching full circle moment. However, there is a twist, as while Jake Parry previously played Simon Barlow, you’d be forgiven for not recognising him.<\/p>\n

That’s because he portrayed the character as a baby alongside his twin brother Oscar 23 years ago, and this time he’s back in the fold in the new role of Damo.<\/p>\n

Set to appear in one episode next week, the scenes will see Damo tumble out of a car as part of the Leanne Battersby and Idris Nazir storyline<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Sharing a preview of his appearance on TikTok<\/a>, Jake wrote: “It\u2019s a pleasure and an honor to be back on this great show, DAMO is coming next week.”<\/p>\n

He then clarified: “For anyone wondering I played Simon Barlow with my brother when I was a baby, I have now [come] back as a different character DAMO which is out next week,” adding that the appearance airs on 26 May.<\/p>\n

Since his initial Corrie role, Jake has established a successful career as an actor, starring in the likes of Red Rose as well as a number of adverts.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the new Leanne story will see her develop a romance with newcomer Idris<\/a>, who is Alya’s cousin.<\/p>\n

“Idris likes Leanne a great deal because she’s real,” Junade Khan, who plays Idris, recently explained. “He has a flashy lifestyle, but when his path crosses with Leanne, he realises that she’s genuinely a real person and that attracts him to her.”<\/p>\n

Leanne recognises Idris as late ex Kal’s cousin, Junade adding: “Idris recognises Leanne but doesn’t quite know where from. It was a family wedding that they had, where they were on the same table, so they recognise each other, and the connection clicks\u2026”<\/p>\n

Coronation Street airs on weeknights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX<\/a>.<\/p>\n
