{"id":455015,"date":"2026-05-22T19:01:11","date_gmt":"2026-05-22T19:01:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/455015\/"},"modified":"2026-05-22T19:01:11","modified_gmt":"2026-05-22T19:01:11","slug":"can-fpls-world-no-1-be-caught-on-the-final-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/455015\/","title":{"rendered":"Can FPL\u2019s world No 1 be caught on the final day?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We look at the race to become 2025\/26 Fantasy champion, with Danish manager Erik Ibsen holding a 21-point lead<\/p>\n<p>The overall leader since Gameweek 29, Denmark\u2019s Erik Ibsen needs to hold on for one more round in order to beat 13.1million people and be crowned <a href=\"https:\/\/fantasy.premierleague.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Fantasy Premier League<\/a> champion for 2025\/26.<\/p>\n<p>Remarkably, this is Ibsen\u2019s first season playing FPL, and victory on Sunday would see him become the first debutant to win since <a href=\"https:\/\/www.premierleague.com\/en\/news\/60736\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Dimitri Nicolaou\u2019s triumph<\/a> over a decade ago.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>But it\u2019s not over yet. But with the title no longer at stake, could Cherki be recalled to the starting line-up?<\/p>\n<p>For third-placed Luka Ortulan and his team &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/fantasy.premierleague.com\/entry\/5798417\/event\/37\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">mirinda<\/a>&#8220;, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.premierleague.com\/en\/clubs\/6\/tottenham-hotspur\/overview\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Tottenham Hotspur<\/a>&#8216;s Richarlison (\u00a36.4m) looks a more appealing differential, with Spurs potentially needing a result in their final match to ensure Premier League safety.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Ortulan, who led in the standings before being overtaken by Ibsen, is another manager making their Fantasy debut, one of five in the top 10. By comparison, none of last season&#8217;s top 10 were FPL rookies.<\/p>\n<p>Who will win the FPL Cup?<\/p>\n<p>In the <a href=\"https:\/\/fantasy.premierleague.com\/leagues\/314\/cup?page_matches=1&amp;event=38\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">final of the FPL Cup<\/a>, John Lynch and his team &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/fantasy.premierleague.com\/entry\/2805990\/event\/37\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The Jam<\/a>&#8221; take on Paul Brookman&#8217;s &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/fantasy.premierleague.com\/entry\/3708935\/event\/37\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Podunk Ipsunk LaDeDa<\/a>&#8220;.<\/p>\n<p>It promises to be an exciting final, with each manager sharing just five players and having completely different forward lines.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Lynch has the in-form Junior Kroupi (\u00a34.7m), Ollie Watkins (\u00a38.7m) and Igor Thiago (\u00a37.3m), while Brookman has Haaland, Calvert-Lewin and Danny Welbeck (\u00a36.4m).<\/p>\n<p>Each manager has one free transfer and no chips remaining, although Lynch, who doesn&#8217;t own Haaland, has \u00a36.3m in the bank, compared to Brookman&#8217;s \u00a30.4m.
