{"id":458559,"date":"2026-05-25T04:06:29","date_gmt":"2026-05-25T04:06:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/458559\/"},"modified":"2026-05-25T04:06:29","modified_gmt":"2026-05-25T04:06:29","slug":"tired-lionel-messi-gives-argentina-injury-scare-weeks-before-world-cup","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/458559\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018Tired\u2019 Lionel Messi gives Argentina injury scare weeks before World Cup"},"content":{"rendered":"<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">Lionel Messi was at the centre of an injury scare just weeks before the start of the World Cup on Sunday after abruptly leaving Inter Miami\u2019s Major League Soccer clash against the Philadelphia Union.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">The Argentina superstar was substituted in the 73rd minute at a rain-soaked Nu Stadium in Miami after clutching the back of his left leg and asking to come off.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">Messi, who is 38, appeared to be walking normally as he headed straight down the tunnel after exiting the game, which Miami went on to win 6-4.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">Inter Miami coach Guillermo Hoyos said after the game it was too early to determine if Messi was injured, and suggested the Argentine\u2019s substitution was precautionary because of the pitch conditions.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">\u201cAs far as I know, we don\u2019t have a [medical] report on that yet, but we will have one shortly,\u201d Hoyos said after the game when asked for details of Messi\u2019s condition. \u201cHe was genuinely suffering from fatigue in that regard \u2013 it is indeed fatigue.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">\u201cHe was tired; the pitch was heavy and when in doubt, the standard approach is always to ensure you don\u2019t take any risks.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Lionel Messi leaves the field after suffering an apparent leg injury.
