South Africa\u2019s private healthcare sector is set for a major shake-up next week as Bonitas Medical Fund<\/a> begins a new phase of its operations, handing over its administration to Momentum Health from June.<\/p>\n

Bonitas has reportedly been under increased<\/a> scrutiny from the Council for Medical Schemes in recent years, with concerns raised around governance and operational oversight.<\/p>\n

Earlier this year<\/a>, Momentum Health CEO Hannes Viljoen<\/a> said the appointment marked a significant milestone for the group, following Bonitas\u2019 decision to award the administration tender after a competitive selection process.<\/p>\n

“We are honoured to have been selected as the preferred healthcare administration partner for Bonitas Medical Fund. It represents a significant milestone for us and reinforces our position as a credible, trusted partner in South Africa\u2019s evolving healthcare ecosystem,” Viljoen said.<\/p>\n

“We look forward to contributing meaningfully to the scheme\u2019s strategic objectives and the overall well-being of its members. We are particularly excited about having a positive impact on the health of more South Africans”.<\/p>\n

He added that the group looked forward to contributing to the scheme\u2019s strategic objectives and supporting member wellbeing across the system.<\/p>\n

The deal will see more than 750,000 beneficiaries move under Momentum Health\u2019s administration, expanding its role in the country\u2019s medical scheme administration market.<\/p>\n

It forms part of Bonitas\u2019 efforts to strengthen its operations and improve efficiency going forward.<\/p>\n
