Amsterdam\u2019s GreenShift, a cloud computing company, has secured funding to support its platform and growth. Investors express support for the team and the company\u2019s focus on efficiency and performance.<\/p>\n

Amsterdam-based GreenShift<\/a>, an AI technology company focused on sustainable cloud computing, has raised \u20ac2.35M in a Convertible Loan Agreement (CLA) round.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The investment was led by 4impact Capital and The Footprint Firm, with support from Rockstart.<\/p>\n

Accelerating the transition to sustainable cloud computing<\/p>\n

Cloud computing produces more CO2 than the aviation sector, and data centres could emit up to 2.5 billion tons of CO2 by 2030, representing nearly 40 per cent of annual emissions in the US.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Worldwide, cloud services account for about 2.5\u20133.7 per cent of global greenhouse gas emissions. A major part of this impact comes from inefficiencies such as servers running when not needed, application structures that make it difficult to track costs and emissions, and software that is not optimised for energy use. These factors increase the overall carbon footprint of cloud and AI workloads.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Without changes, energy demand and emissions from these systems are likely to grow, highlighting both a challenge for sustainability and an opportunity for organisations to reduce energy use and carbon output.\u00a0<\/p>\n

This is where GreenShift looks to make a difference.<\/p>\n

Founded in 2024 by Omar Regoort and Leonid Borodaev, GreenShift provides a platform for managing cloud computing efficiency. It focuses on the application layer, where most energy inefficiencies occur, rather than only on infrastructure-level optimisation.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The platform uses AI to reduce cloud application energy usage by up to 40 per cent. It combines cost, performance, and carbon into a single optimisation engine, allowing organisations to lower emissions and reduce cloud costs while maintaining performance.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Unlike traditional optimisation approaches that require a trade-off between cost and performance, GreenShift\u2019s platform addresses both simultaneously. The result is reduced energy<\/a> use, lower operational costs, and lower carbon emissions for cloud applications.<\/p>\n
