According to new code-based evidence, Samsung might be planning to launch back-to-back generations of its \u201cClassic\u201d style with the Galaxy Watch 9 series, as well as picking up the raise-to-talk feature from Pixel Watch.<\/p>\n
Over its Wear OS renaissance, the Galaxy Watch lineup has gone back and forth each generation with the \u201cClassic\u201d model, the one with Samsung\u2019s beloved rotating bezel mechanic. It was on the Watch 4 series, dropped on Watch 5, revived for Watch 6, skipped on Watch 7, and brought back again last year on the Watch 8 series.<\/p>\n
By that pattern, there shouldn\u2019t be a Galaxy Watch 9 Classic, but it seems that\u2019s what we\u2019re getting.<\/p>\n
The folks over at Android Authority<\/a> uncovered three codenames in an undisclosed Wear OS update \u2013 \u201cfresh9,\u201d \u201cwise9,\u201d and \u201cprojectv2.\u201d These align with last year\u2019s codenames which included \u201cfresh8\u201d for Galaxy Watch 8, \u201cwise8\u201d for Galaxy Watch 8 Classic, and \u201cprojectx2\u201d for Galaxy Watch Ultra (2026). Notably, Galaxy Watch 6 Classic carried the codename \u201cwise6bs,\u201d further pointing to this watch being the Classic style versus anything else. <\/p>\n \tAdvertisement – scroll for more content<\/p>\n Also in the code was a hint that Galaxy Watch 9 might get the raise-to-talk feature from Pixel Watch 4.<\/p>\n Google\u2019s code references raise-to-talk on Pixel Watch 4 as \u201cRttSettingsManagerPixelWatch,\u201d and this recent update apparently added \u201cRttSettingsManager3pWearOs,\u201d hinting at third-party support for other Wear OS smartwatches.
