The conflict has resulted in deep economic stress not just for the world but also for the United States.

A recent Reuters report stated that U.S. inflation had increased at its fastest pace in three years in April. This was driven by higher energy prices. Citing data from the US Commerce Department, Reuters reported that surging price pressures are eroding household income and threatening to restrain consumer spending. The report further states that Income at the disposal of American households dropped for a third straight month in April.

Geopolitical Risk Advisor Col. Douglas Macgregor (Retd.) warns that the US President has very few options, as a possible rise in interest rates could cause the American economy to implode.

Speaking to ANI, Col. Macgregor said that perhaps it was time for the US President to come to terms with reality and admit the war was a bad idea.

“Inflation jumped in April from 3.2% to 3.8%. Yesterday, I was looking at some projections, and there are some projections that say that by the end of July, beginning of August, it could be 5% or 6%. Now, when you begin to reach those levels, the normal response is to raise interest rates in order to suppress inflation. But he can’t do that. If he raises interest rates, our economy will probably implode. The whole financial system goes under. So what are you asking him to do? You’re asking him instead is to come to terms with reality. Look, this was a bad idea. We didn’t know what we were doing when we attacked Iran,” he said.

May 30, 2026 12:42:40 PM IST

US-Iran news LIVE: Israel, Russia among new additions on UN sexual violence ‘blacklist’

The United Nations has confirmed it placed Israel on a blacklist of countries suspected of committing sexual violence against civilians, and pushed back on accusations made by Israel regarding its inclusion among perpetrators of such abuse.

The list, part of a “conflict-related sexual violence” report released on Friday, prompted Israel’s Foreign Ministry to say it would sever all ties with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.

May 30, 2026 12:26:17 PM IST

US-Iran news LIVE: Israel issues forced displacement orders for 3 south Lebanon towns, villages

Israel has issued a new forced displacement order for residents of Mayfadoun, Choukine, and Zebdine, all towns and villages in the Nabatieh district of southern Lebanon.

In a post on X, the Israeli military warned all residents to “evacuate your homes immediately and move north of the Zahrani River”, which is some 40km (25 miles) from Lebanon’s border with Israel.

May 30, 2026 12:11:29 PM IST

US-Iran news LIVE: Some 15 Hezbollah rockets reported to target northern Israel

Israeli media reported that about 15 rockets were fired by Hezbollah towards northern Israel last night.

Air raid sirens were activated multiple times, sending people to shelters, according to Israel’s Channel 12.

Israeli forces earlier said that they destroyed a launcher from which Hezbollah fired rockets, and intercepted a Hezbollah “launch” from southern Lebanon.

May 30, 2026 11:44:54 AM IST

US-Iran news LIVE: Philippine banana farmers lost $150 million due to Iran conflict

Banana growers in the Philippines say the US-Israel war on Iran is threatening their livelihoods amid rising fertiliser costs, disrupted shipping routes and falling export prices, Al Jazeera reported.

Iran had been one of the Philippines’ fastest-growing banana markets, helping the industry recover from years of crop diseases and pest outbreaks, but now an estimated $150 million in sales have been lost.

May 30, 2026 11:34:33 AM IST

US-Iran news LIVE: Israeli army bombarding southern Lebanese town

The Israeli army has carried out three bombings in the town of Dibbine in the Marjayoun district, Al Jazeera Arabic reported.

May 30, 2026 11:05:26 AM IST

US-Iran news LIVE: UN official rebukes Israel

UN official Pramila Patten said Israel’s failure to prosecute soldiers for a prison camp rape that caused life-threatening injuries to a Palestinian prisoner reflected a “total lack of accountability”.

May 30, 2026 10:49:58 AM IST

US-Iran news LIVE: Israeli soldiers share rare accounts from Gaza, describing ongoing killings despite the ceasefire

The Israeli combat soldier saw his teammates yelling in celebration, congratulating one another.
