That&#8217;s according to the Employee Benefit Research Institute and Greenwald Research. The institute\u2019s <a class=\"externallink\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ebri.org\/media\/press-releases\/content\/2026-retirement-confidence-survey-finds-americans-less-confident-about-retirement-as-worries-grow-over-social-security--medicare-and-rising-costs\">annual Retirement Confidence Survey<\/a>, released last month, found that health care costs and housing expenses are among several reasons for financial anxiety for workers and retirees alike. <\/p>\n<p>For some, one solution to financial trouble in retirement is unretiring and <a class=\"externallink\" title=\"\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.aarp.org\/work\/careers\/retirees-returning-to-work\/?msockid=235ec14bc0fe686c13d2d735c181699c\">going back to work<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMarketplace\u201d spoke with Anna Romero in New York, who retired from an operations role at 55. She thought she\u2019d be set for life and that she could enjoy some restful retirement years. But now, at 74, she\u2019s back on the job market. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI tell people, if you\u2019re thinking of retirement, you gotta remember to look at the whole picture because if you still have a mortgage and your job doesn\u2019t come with paid medical retirement, you\u2019re gonna need extra money,\u201d Anna said. \u201cNever in a million years would I expect to find myself in the situation that I am over the last few years.
