{"id":471072,"date":"2026-06-01T18:47:08","date_gmt":"2026-06-01T18:47:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/471072\/"},"modified":"2026-06-01T18:47:08","modified_gmt":"2026-06-01T18:47:08","slug":"refurbished-severn-hospice-ward-reopens-after-appeal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/471072\/","title":{"rendered":"Refurbished Severn Hospice ward reopens after appeal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The first patients have arrived on a hospice ward which has reopened following a \u00a33m upgrade.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Severn Hospice, which cares for patients from Shropshire, Telford &amp; Wrekin and mid-Wales, said improvements to the Perry Ward at its site in Bicton Heath, Shrewsbury, were an &#8220;essential project&#8221; to keep up with modern standards. Improvements include new beds and a renovated relatives area.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Chief executive Heather Tudor said the extended and updated facility would provide &#8220;the best environment&#8230; for our patients and families&#8221;. The hospice cares for about 3,000 families each year across its sites.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Inpatient manager Zoe Turner told BBC Radio Shropshire it was a &#8220;costly project, but much needed&#8221;.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The first patients have arrived on a hospice ward which has reopened following a \u00a33m upgrade.
