Steven Spielberg Reveals the Side Hustle That Helped Launch His Filmmaking Career<\/p>\n
Steven Spielberg<\/a> had to phone home to learn about E.T.\u2019s.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n Ahead of the E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial director\u2019s new alien movie Disclosure Day\u2014which stars Josh O\u2019Connor, Colman Domingo and Emily Blunt\u2014hitting theaters, he shared why he\u2019s never doubted the existence of otherworldly beings.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ve always believed,\u201d Steven told E! News in an exclusive interview. \u201cEven as a child, my father was an electrical engineer, and he worked on the very first computer for RCA years and years ago. My dad put it into my mind that we are not alone. He wasn\u2019t talking about Earth, he was talking about the cosmos.\u201d<\/p>\n And the 79-year-old\u2019s dad Arnold Spielberg inspired his own opinion on the matter.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cHe said, \u2018There\u2019s intelligent life out there,\u2019\u201d Steven recalled. \u201cAnd my dad read a lot of science fiction, so I was born believing that out there, life exists, intelligent life exists.\u201d<\/p>\n Of course, the <\/a>Jaws <\/a>director<\/a> looked beyond his father\u2019s opinions for his own proof.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cIt sort of became urban legends much more than conspiracy theories,\u201d Steven continued. \u201cIt really became consistently truthful.
