{"id":474104,"date":"2026-06-03T12:52:12","date_gmt":"2026-06-03T12:52:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/474104\/"},"modified":"2026-06-03T12:52:12","modified_gmt":"2026-06-03T12:52:12","slug":"israir-plane-diverts-to-croatia-after-slovenia-prevents-flight-from-landing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/474104\/","title":{"rendered":"Israir plane diverts to Croatia after Slovenia prevents flight from landing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>An Israir flight scheduled to land in Ljubljana, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/international\/article-890294\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Slovenia<\/a>, was denied permission to land and diverted to Zagreb, Croatia, Israir said on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>The decision was reportedly made by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/diaspora\/article-869830\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Slovenian<\/a> authorities, whom the company claims were politically motivated.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">Israir&#8217;s CEO Uri Sirkis stated that this incident violated aviation agreements and EU laws.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">Relevant Israeli authorities, including the Foreign Ministry and Civil Aviation Authority, were involved in attempting to find a solution that would allow the flight to proceed as planned, but efforts were unsuccessful, Sirkis said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">Janez Jansa was re-elected on May 22. This is his fourth time in the role, having previously served from 2004-2008, 2012-2013, and 2020-2022. Jansa leads the right-wing Slovenian Democratic Party.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">Under Jansa\u2019s predecessor, Robert Golob, Slovenia became one of the most hostile countries towards Israel, alongside Ireland and Spain.
