Honeywell’s<\/a>\u00a0Quantinuum\u00a0said on Wednesday it has raised $1.68\u00a0billion\u00a0in its U.S. initial public offering after pricing shares at $60 apiece, as investors flocked to one of the market’s fast-growing emerging technology sectors.<\/p>\n

Broomfield, Colorado-based\u00a0Quantinuum\u00a0sold 28 million shares in the offering.<\/p>\n

Reuters exclusively reported the pricing details earlier in the day.<\/p>\n

The listing is the latest test of investor appetite for\u00a0quantum\u00a0computing\u00a0companies, as breakthroughs in the technology spur bets that\u00a0quantum\u00a0machines could eventually outperform conventional computers on certain complex tasks.<\/p>\n

Earlier this week, the company increased the price range to $53-$55 per share and boosted the number of shares on offer to 26.5 million, typically a sign of strong investor demand.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0IPO\u00a0comes as the U.S. new listings market regains momentum, although investor appetite remains concentrated in technology and other high-growth sectors.<\/p>\n

Quantinuum\u00a0will begin trading on the Nasdaq on Thursday, under the ticker symbol “QNT”. J.P.Morgan<\/a> and Morgan Stanley<\/a> are the lead underwriters of the offering.<\/p>\n

Quantum computing bet<\/p>\n

The company was formed in 2021 through the merger of\u00a0Honeywell’s\u00a0quantum\u00a0computing\u00a0business and Cambridge\u00a0Quantum. While still in the early stages of commercial growth,\u00a0Quantinuum\u00a0has reported accelerating bookings in recent months as interest in the sector increases.<\/p>\n

Despite growing investor optimism, across the industry\u00a0quantum\u00a0computing\u00a0companies continue to face challenges including high development costs, technological complexity and an uncertain timeline for widespread commercial adoption.<\/p>\n

Honeywell, which has a market capitalization of roughly $150\u00a0billion, will retain about 48.1% of the company’s combined voting power after the offering is completed,\u00a0Quantinuum\u00a0disclosed in its\u00a0IPO\u00a0filing.<\/p>\n

Analysts expect\u00a0Quantinuum’s\u00a0IPO\u00a0to have an outsized impact on the\u00a0quantum\u00a0computing\u00a0sector, given the limited number of publicly traded companies in the space.<\/p>\n

“More\u00a0quantum\u00a0names reaching the public markets deepens the universe, improves price discovery, and draws sellside and institutional coverage to a space that has thus\u00a0far been thinly followed,” analysts at Wedbush said in a note this week.<\/p>\n

“We expect\u00a0Quantinuum’s valuation and early share-price action to set the tone in the first day or two of trading, and to ripple across listed peers, particularly in light of the strong cross correlation of\u00a0quantum\u00a0asset prices,” the brokerage said.<\/p>\n

Last month, the Trump administration said it will take $2\u00a0billion\u00a0in equity stakes across nine\u00a0quantum-computing\u00a0companies.<\/p>\n

Quantinuum\u00a0develops\u00a0quantum\u00a0computers designed to solve complex problems that would take classical computers thousands of years or longer to process.<\/p>\n
