With a smaller group of working royals<\/a> around him, Prince William will need to rely on his family\u2019s support more than ever when he becomes King<\/a>. Unlike Queen Elizabeth or King Charles, the Prince of Wales, 43, doesn\u2019t have a balcony full of siblings or even cousins with full-time royal roles. But two people he can always count on are his uncle, Prince Edward<\/a>, and aunt, Duchess Sophie<\/a>\u2014and they\u2019ve been taking on an increasingly visible role in the Royal Family.<\/p>\n

The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh<\/a> have been traveling to Portugal on behalf of King Charles this week, and the monarch\u2019s brother and sister-in-law have taken on more responsibilities in the nearly four years since Queen Elizabeth\u2019s death<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Betfair Casino<\/a>, body language expert Darren Stanton says Sophie, in particular, appears to have \u201cgrown into the role\u201d and is \u201centirely at ease\u201d with her increased royal duties.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe carries herself exceptionally well,\u201d Stanton says of Duchess Sophie. Whether it\u2019s speaking on behalf of the UN\u2019s Women, Peace and Security agenda<\/a> or attending an agricultural fair<\/a> with Prince William, the duchess is \u201ccomfortable being the center of attention,\u201d the body language expert shares.<\/p>\n

\u201cSophie and Edward seem to be growing steadily into a more prominent position within the Royal Family,\u201d he continues. Although Prince Edward is the naturally more introverted of the pair, together, they \u201cwork as a team,\u201d Stanton adds.<\/p>\n

When Prince William takes the throne, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh will likely be among the only working royals left, other than Princess Anne<\/a> and the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, who are all in their seventies and eighties.<\/p>\n

\u2018\u2018As William and Kate move closer to becoming King and Queen<\/a>, Sophie and Edward will inevitably become more visible and more important within the monarchy,\u201d Stanton says. \u201cIn many ways, they’re already being prepared for that shift.\u201d<\/p>\n

As the duke and duchess continue to support The King in their daily work, Stanton notes that the public has shown an extremely positive reaction to the couple. \u201cPeople appear at ease around them, which is often a good reflection of the energy being projected,\u201d he notes.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission.
