Artificial intelligence hyperscaler CoreWeave<\/a> announced a multibillion-dollar agreement with Meta<\/a> days after reporting a deal with OpenAI<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cFuture AI innovations will be far bigger than they are today, so we\u2019re building for them now,\u201d CoreWeave said in a Tuesday (Sept. 30) post<\/a> on LinkedIn. \u201cWe\u2019re expanding our partnership with Meta through a new long-term agreement worth up to $14.2 billion. Together, we\u2019re paving the way today to unlock AI\u2019s full promise tomorrow.\u201d<\/p>\n

In a Tuesday Bloomberg report<\/a> to which the post linked, CoreWeave said that the deal involves it supplying Meta with computing power to develop and run AI models.<\/p>\n

The deal runs through December 2031 and can be extended through 2032 with additional capacity, according to the report.<\/p>\n

It helps CoreWeave\u2019s efforts to diversify its business. Before this deal, as of the quarter ended in June, 71% of the company\u2019s revenue came from its largest customer, Microsoft<\/a>, the report said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen we came out in the IPO<\/a>, we got dinged because of our customer concentration,\u201d CoreWeave CEO Michael Intrator<\/a> told Bloomberg, referring to the company\u2019s March initial public offering. \u201cThis is clearly a step in the right direction for diversification.\u201d<\/p>\n

CoreWeave announced its expanded agreement<\/a> with OpenAI on Thursday (Sept. 25), saying the new deal is worth up to $6.5 billion and brings the total contract value to $22.4 billion.<\/p>\n

The companies inked a partnership earlier in the year, with CoreWeave agreeing to power OpenAI\u2019s training of its most advanced AI models.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are proud to expand our relationship with OpenAI, a company consistently at the forefront of advancing artificial intelligence,\u201d Intrator said at the time in a press release. \u201cThis milestone affirms the trust that world-leading innovators have in CoreWeave\u2019s ability to power the most demanding inference and training workloads at an unmatched pace.\u201d<\/p>\n

CoreWeave was founded in 2017 as a cryptocurrency mining firm and evolved into an AI startup and cloud computing<\/a> provider. It reported revenue of $1.9 billion in 2024, with a net loss of $863 billion.<\/p>\n

PYMNTS reported in July that CoreWeave, Meta, Google<\/a> and Blackstone<\/a> are planning to collectively spend hundreds of billions of dollars to build data centers for AI amid an arms race to build the computing power<\/a> needed by this technology.<\/p>\n
