EastEnders has announced that Libby Fox will make her much-anticipated return to the soap later this month, as Belinda Owusu reprises her popular role<\/a> once again for a short stint.<\/p>\n

Viewers won\u2019t be completely surprised by the news of Libby\u2019s return, as she made a brief and very unexpected appearance in the New Year\u2019s Day flashforward episode<\/a> back in January.<\/p>\n

While it was known that she would reappear in Walford at some point before 2027, it was not known until now when exactly she will return and the reason for her comeback after nine years away from the Square.<\/p>\n

Libby will head back home during what is an incredibly difficult time for the Fox-Trueman family, with Denise\u2019s recent blood cancer diagnosis<\/a> leaving everyone completely stunned when they eventually discover the truth.<\/p>\n

When Libby arrives in Walford to support her mum during her illness, it soon becomes clear to her that her whole family desperately needs help. This includes her sister Chelsea, who is struggling following the accident that has left her son Jordan with a serious spinal injury<\/a>.<\/p>\n

These two emotional storylines kicked off this week, in a special set of episodes that changed everything for several characters \u2013 and will continue to unfold on screen over the coming weeks and months.<\/p>\n

In a statement, Belinda Owusu said: “I am beyond thrilled to be back on the Square. Getting the Foxes back together has been such a joy, full of fun and nostalgia! It\u2019s been 20 years since I first joined, so coming back has been like returning home!<\/p>\n

“It\u2019s a really great team and I\u2019ve been loving my time here. Libby is coming home to support her family during a difficult time, and it\u2019s been so wonderful stepping back into her shoes and becoming a Fox again.”<\/p>\n

EastEnders executive producer Ben Wadey added: “We\u2019re thrilled to welcome Belinda back to the role of Libby Fox as we start to uncover another piece of the puzzle of the New Year\u2019s Day flashforward storyline. Libby returns at a particularly emotional time for the Fox-Trueman family, and it\u2019s clear that her family need her now more than ever.”<\/p>\n

EastEnders airs on Mondays – Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer, where most episodes drop early at 6am ahead of their TV broadcast.<\/p>\n
