The project, which is described as an \u201celevated live-action technothriller series,\u201d also hails from Hasbro Entertainment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tCreated by Christy Marx, \u201cJem and the Holograms\u201d first debuted in 1985 and centered on Jerrica Benton, a record company owner who moonlights as the singer of a rock band, Jem and the Holograms. The show was filled with music videos and original songs, including the popular theme, \u201cTruly Outrageous.\u201d\u00a0The voice cast included Samantha Newark, Britta Phillips, Patricia Alice Albrecht, Kath Soucie, Marlene Aragon and more.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tWhile the animated series ended in 1988, \u201cJem and the Holograms\u201d continued to rank among the top three most-watched syndicated kids\u2019 programs throughout the 1990s. The fandom endures today with album releases, a comic book series and a fan-run convention called JemCon that is currently celebrating its 20th year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThere was a failed attempt in 2015 by Jon M. Chu and Blumhouse Productions to revive the property with a live-action musical drama film. The movie, starring Aubrey Peeples as Jerrica\/Jem, failed to recoup its $5 million budget, grossing only $2.3 million at the global box office.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tKilter Films was founded in 2011 by husband and wife Nolan and Joy. The company has an overall deal at Amazon MGM Studios, where it produces the hit post-apocalyptic drama \u201cFallout.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tDeadline broke the news.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"\u201cJem and the Holograms\u201d are going on a reunion tour.
