David Harbour didn\u2019t give specifics about his relationship with ex-wife Lily Allen<\/a> in his Variety<\/a> cover story, but he was more than ready to chat about Millie Bobby Brown. Harbour, who played Hopper on Stranger Things<\/a>, shared that he has a positive relationship with Brown, who played his surrogate daughter Jane\/Eleven. \u201cThere is a special bond there,\u201d he said. \u201cI love her. She loves me.\u201d Last November, ahead of the final season of Stranger Things airing<\/a>, the Daily Mail<\/a> reported that Brown had filed a harassment and bullying claim against Harbour before filming began. \u201cThere were pages and pages of accusations,\u201d the Mail\u2019s source said at the time. \u201cThe investigation went on for months.\u201d Harbour does not deny the report. He instead says that the news \u201ccame out in a weird way.\u201d<\/p>\n

Brown, who confirmed to Deadline<\/a> in November that she \u201cfelt safe\u201d on set, emailed a new comment to Variety that did gesture at the relationship being fine now. \u201cOver time, our relationship became much more collaborative creatively,\u201d she wrote. \u201cWhen you work with someone for that many years, we could really push each other emotionally in scenes. Even though the series has ended, there\u2019s still a lot of gratitude. Getting to share that experience with him for so many years is something I\u2019ll always remember and value.\u201d<\/p>\n

Harbour compared their contention to family spats. \u201cWe worked together for ten years during her formative teenage years, playing father and daughter,\u201d he said. \u201cI don\u2019t know if people have families and friends that you spend a lot of time with for ten years \u2014 you occasionally get in arguments, disagreements.\u201d His perspective is that they just had problems they had to work through, and, once they did, their relationship was better. \u201cIt was just a simple rupture-and-repair thing that, once we cleared everybody out of the way and talked to each other, we\u2019re fine,\u201d he explained. \u201cEveryone nowadays is very scared of talking about things. People are very scared of being human. It\u2019s unfortunate, because I don\u2019t know how to navigate this weird media world. But it was completely normal, and we adore each other and always have.\u201d Harbour even promised that he\u2019ll work with Brown again. \u201cYou\u2019ll see more of me and Millie,\u201d he promised. \u201cTen years wasn\u2019t enough.\u201d<\/p>\n
