Duran Duran<\/a> have admitted that the band have managed to survive the music industry after nearly 50 years, due to them all being paid equally.<\/p>\n

In a new interview with ITV News<\/a>, frontman Simon Le Bon opened up about how the iconic \u201980s band have managed to maintain their core line-up, which consists of him, John Taylor, Roger Taylor and Nick Rhodes.<\/p>\n

He said: \u201cWe like each other, we like working together. We rely on each other for musical ideas, as well. We split all the income equally; it doesn\u2019t matter if you write something or if you don\u2019t write on it, you get an equal share of the publishing.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat way, everybody is happy and only the best material gets on the album. It means there\u2019s no resentment for financial reasons. I don\u2019t know how many other bands do that.\u201d<\/p>\n

His comments come ahead of their\u00a0BST Hyde Park 2026<\/a> headline show in London Sunday July 5. Any remaining tickets can be purchased here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Duran Duran previously topped the bill at BST Hyde Park in 2022<\/a>. They had\u00a0initially been announced for the 2020 edition<\/a>, which was ultimately cancelled because of the COVID-19 apandemic.<\/p>\n

The band \u2013 who have sold over 100 million records, been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and won Grammy<\/a> and BRIT Awards<\/a> \u2013 recently revealed that they will not play at Glastonbury unless they are one of the headliners<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cWell, we want to \u2013 but not in a disco tent at 3pm, which is what we were offered,\u201d the frontman, Le Bon, said. \u201cWe want the right slot\u2026 We shouldn\u2019t be below anybody on the bill. So, we\u2019ll hold out because we\u2019re a headline act \u2013 that\u2019s all there is to it.\u201d<\/p>\n

In 2023, the band expressed similar sentiments when\u00a0speaking to\u00a0NME\u00a0about the chances of them playing Glastonbury<\/a>. \u201cI\u2019d love to [do it] \u2013 we just need to get the right slot, that\u2019s all,\u201d Le Bon said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have had the chance to do it before, but it wasn\u2019t playing the main stage and I think we\u2019d like to be doing that for sure,\u201d he added. \u201cI\u2019m sure we\u2019re in negotiations [with Glastonbury], and if not, we will be.\u201d<\/p>\n

Their last live dates in the UK were in October last year, and before then they headlined the closing night of\u00a0Latitude 2024<\/a>\u00a0and played at\u00a0the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham in 2022<\/a>.<\/p>\n

They are also set to hit the road for an arena tour of the UK later this year.
