Jaron Beck, doctor of chiropractic, opened Beck Wellness<\/a> in Park City this week because he sees the Wichita suburb growing.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe saw that Park City is developing, and we wanted to be a part of that,\u201d Beck said. And it doesn\u2019t hurt that his wife, Mika, is from Wichita and wanted to get back to the area after Beck graduated from chiropractic school in the Kansas City area.<\/p>\n

Beck also found Park City appealing because it had no other chiropractic offices within its city limits. An online search indicated two chiropractic offices that once had Park City addresses, but those offices are both listed as permanently closed.<\/p>\n

Beck got his undergraduate degree from the University of Kansas, and his doctor of chiropractic from Cleveland University in Overland Park.<\/p>\n

He said he decided to get into chiropractic care because of its focus on wellness.<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter everything blew up in 2020,\u201d Beck said, \u201cI think a lot of people are looking for ways to live more holistically.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to the National Institutes of Health, 11.0% of U.S. adults<\/a> used chiropractic care in 2022, the most recent year for which survey data is available.<\/p>\n

Chiropractors can offer a range of specialized services. Beck said he is more classically focused on the alignment between the brain and the spine.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s not just treating pain,\u201d Beck said. \u201cAlthough we\u2019re good at that, too. Whenever we adjust we\u2019re really impacting the nervous system. We\u2019re working on how the brain and body are really talking to each other.\u201d<\/p>\n

He also can provide X-rays in-house, and offers services to all ages of patients, from babies to senior citizens.<\/p>\n

On the first day his office was open, he said he did an adjustment to an infant who was only five days old. Babies are going through a lot of development in a short period of time, and he said keeping the brain and spine aligned can help with everything from constipation and colic to ear infections.<\/p>\n

He said he also offers pre-natal care to help pregnant women focus on their pelvic function.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat helps to have an easier delivery,\u201d Beck said. \u201cThere\u2019s a lot of changes your body goes through in a short period of time\u201d when you\u2019re pregnant.<\/p>\n

Beck\u2019s office is at 1500 E. 61st St. N., Suite A, in Park City. It is open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Fridays.<\/p>\n

Despite the increased attention that wellness care is getting from the general public, insurance coverage continues to be problematic for chiropractors.<\/p>\n

But Beck is working to get around that by opening as a cash-based practice.<\/p>\n
