But she suggested the actor approaches work in a way others aren\u2019t particularly used to, declaring: \u201cAs long as what\u2019s on the screen is fantastic, I\u2019m totally chilled with whatever, however anyone gets there.\u201d<\/p>\n
News broke last month that Hardy, 48<\/a>, was axed from the British crime drama after wrapping production on season two, with several outlets reporting the decision stemmed from repeated run-ins<\/a> with people behind the scenes.<\/p>\n According to an unnamed source who spoke to The Hollywood Reporter<\/a>, the British actor \u201crefused to come out of his trailer for hours at a time\u201d and kept Mirren, 80, and co-star Pierce Brosnan, 73, waiting \u201cfor hours\u201d.<\/p>\n However, Mirren has said she would work with Hardy again in \u201ca heartbeat\u201d and notched down any clashes to a clash of styles.<\/p>\n \u201cDifferent actors have different processes \u2013\u00a0I\u2019ve learned over the years that some people get things fast and other people took time,\u201d she said at the Taormina Film Festival, according to Deadline<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cI love Tom \u2013\u00a0I think he\u2019s the most amazing actor. I\u2019ve always loved him on screen,\u201d she said, calling him \u201ca very special person\u201d with \u201cthe kindest heart\u201d. Mirren added: \u201cI think he\u2019s absolutely remarkable. So my support of him is genuine and heartfelt.\u201d<\/p>\n The Oscar-winning star of The Queen also shared support for the show\u2019s \u201cfantastic\u201d writer, Jez Butterworth, who is one of the figures rumoured to have clashed with Hardy.<\/p>\n Despite initial reports claiming Hardy had been dropped from the show, a source close to production told Variety<\/a> in May: \u201cTom was not fired, the door is not closed for season three, and things are being worked through creatively.\u201d<\/p>\n The outlet added that while there was indeed behind-the-scenes tension between Hardy and producers Butterworth and David Glasser, they are actively trying to resolve all creative differences.<\/p>\n Mirren said: \u201cWhen you have these sort of very powerful artistic people working together, the creative process is very challenging and people can get their knickers in a twist, as we say.
