A teaser for Ludwig’s anticipated second season has landed. The show became a huge hit for the BBC when it debuted in 2024, becoming the broadcaster’s biggest comedy launch in six years.<\/p>\n

The story follows David Mitchell’s puzzle-maker John ‘Ludwig’ Taylor as he pretends to be his identical police inspector brother when the latter goes missing in order to solve the mystery, teaming up with his sister-in-law (Anna Maxwell Martin) in the process.<\/p>\n

The new season arrives this summer and picks up after the first, with Ludwig now a Crime Scene Consultant \u2013 though his brother is still missing.<\/p>\n

“Now that he’s an official employee of the station, John is forbidden from using any police resources to look for his brother or uncover exactly what he was investigating,” the synopsis adds.<\/p>\n

“Of course, John won\u2019t stop and neither will Lucy, John\u2019s sister-in-law and wife of his missing brother James – a puzzle needs solving and a husband and father needs bringing home. One masquerade may have ended, but a new one has just begun.”<\/p>\n

A teaser trailer has now been released, showing Ludwig struggling to get used to his new role as Crime Scene Consultant, joking: “That does sound more like an actual job.”<\/p>\n

Alongside the returning stars such as Dylan Hughes, Dorothy Atkinson, Ralph Ineson and Karl Pilkington, new additions for season two include Line of Duty’s Mark Bonnar<\/a> as newspaper editor Gareth Fisher, Fleabag’s Sian Clifford as a local MP, and Black Mirror’s Ben Ashenden and After the Flood’s Rumi Sutton.<\/p>\n

Teasing the latter two, Mitchell previously told Radio Times<\/a>: “They were brilliant, very funny. They’re new characters, they’re very funny characters. They’ve got a great dynamic with each other, but overall the situation remains the same.”<\/p>\n

The first season attracted a near-perfect 97% fresh score on Rotten Tomatoes<\/a>, the site calling it a “cleverly plotted and a wonderful showcase” for Mitchell’s “brainy charm”, and “a thoroughly pleasant mystery series that stays light on its feet”.<\/p>\n
