Apple wrapped up its WWDC 2026 keynote this week, outlining all of its major new software features for the coming year, with Siri AI and improved stability taking the spotlight. That said, there are a few new features that are reportedly still in the works, and we should still see them by September, per Bloomberg\u2019s Mark Gurman<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Simplified Modular Ultra face<\/p>\n

Apple reportedly<\/a> developed a simpler version of its popular Apple Watch Ultra-exclusive watchface. It would embrace the large clock of Modular Ultra, but would lack a second row of complications. This wasn\u2019t unveiled at WWDC, but it\u2019ll likely be revealed in September alongside the new Apple Watch releases.<\/p>\n

As someone who used to own an Apple Watch Ultra, I will say I did end up missing this face a little once I switched to the Series 10, so having a simplified version of it would be nice.<\/p>\n

Additional Siri extensions<\/p>\n

One of the major rumors for iOS 27 was that Siri would support other chatbots<\/a>, like ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude.<\/p>\n

Currently, Apple still supports ChatGPT as a result of its initial partnership with OpenAI from 2024 for the initial Siri integration. However, it\u2019s not quite the same as what Apple is aiming for with the eventual feature.<\/p>\n

In iOS 27, Apple wanted to allow apps to integrate with Siri directly through an Extensions API, rather than having a bespoke deal with each company that wanted to integrate with Siri. The main difference here is that this will just be a straight-up third party integration, so it likely won\u2019t have the same privacy guarantee that the original ChatGPT deal did \u2013 since this isn\u2019t a partnership.<\/p>\n

Apple is working to move ChatGPT to this new integration model, though nothing has materialized quite yet. From Bloomberg<\/a>: <\/p>\n

Apple has already held discussions with OpenAI, Anthropic and Google about supporting this new system, including specifics about an entitlement they\u2019d need to apply for and integrate into their apps, and I have no doubt it\u2019ll still arrive at some point.<\/p>\n

Gurman speculates that there\u2019s four key reasons it hasn\u2019t yet arrived:<\/p>\n

It wouldn\u2019t work alongside Apple\u2019s campaign against the DMA in the European Union<\/p>\n

If better models were integrated from day one, Siri AI would have less of a spotlight<\/p>\n

Apple may want to avoid litigation with OpenAI, which the company has threatened<\/p>\n

Doing additional third party integration alongside the Gemini partnership may cause for unnecessary confusion<\/p>\n

Nonetheless, as September comes closer, we\u2019ll likely hear more about how these extensions will work. In theory, any notable AI company will be able to implement it \u2013 and you\u2019ll be able to tap into their features with Siri.<\/p>\n

Customizable Camera app<\/p>\n

Lastly, iOS 27 was supposed to feature a fully customizable camera app<\/a>, where users can move their controls to a place they prefer. That didn\u2019t materialize in the initial developer beta, though other features like Siri in the Camera app did.<\/p>\n

This will most definitely appear in September alongside the release of the iPhone 18 Pro, just to make that release cycle sound slightly more interesting.<\/p>\n
